Deputy Kevin Blakely cancer support

My name is Diane Blakely. I am creating this campaign to help raise funds for my husband Kevin Blakely. He was recently diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.


What started out as a nagging cough  turned into our family's worst nightmare. He is staying in Boston with family where he was quickly diagnosed at the Brigham and Womens/Dana Farber hospitals. He has a team of doctors working with him to help fight this disease. He is currently at the beginning stages of months of chemotherapy and radiation. We feel this is the best place for him to be treated. At this point it is unknown how long he will be in Boston or what his prognosis is.  As you can imagine this is very stressful on him as well as the family and friends that love him. We have insurance but, the co pays for CT Scans, MRIs, medicines, travel expenses, and a plethora of cost not covered or considered by insurance is excessive. 

Anyone who knows my husband knows that he is a man who always puts others needs before his own. He would give anyone the shirt off of his back if he thought you needed it and even I you didn't want it.  I don't know of anyone who has met Kevin and that has not been affected by his kind nature and sometimes outrageous sense of humor. The levity he seems to lend to sometimes the most serious of situations is always  somehow comforting to those involved. 

Kevin has dedicated his life to his family, his country as a Gulf War Veteran and his community as a Law Enforcement Officer for the Sarasota County Sheriffs Office and former Easton Ma Police Dept and Scituate Police Dept. He also volunteered during our country's worst terror attacks 9/11 where he was exposed to weeks of unknown chemicals. The doctors are suspecting his cancer is due to an unknown exposure of chemicals either during 9/11 or his time overseas while in the Marine Corps. 

We are grateful for any help we can get. Any money donated to this fund will be used to directly cushion the cost associated with Kevin's medical bills, treatments, travel, medicines ect... If you are unable to donate any kind words or prayers also help with stress and make us feel loved and supported.
