Kester is a sweet, fun, loving 10 year old little boy from the Philippines, who is need of immediate medical attention to perform open heart surgery.
Kester was born with a rare heart defect called. Tetralogy o Fallot and Hemitruncus. Hemitruncus arteriosus, refers to pulmonary artery originating from aorta and is a rare congenital cardiovascular malformation. It requires two separate operations in his circumstance. He also has an imperforate anus condition.
The pediatric surgeons had originally planned to perform Posterior Sagittal Anorectoplasty (PSARP) and Closure of Colostomy 3 months after the PSARP. However, Kester’s health has been declining rapidly, to the point the pediatric surgeon’s would like to jump right into completing open heart surgery to help repair his heart condition.
Unfortunately, he is without any kind of government coverage / assistance for these operations, which will cost approximately $25,000.00 USD. This is an impossible amount of money to save for the average citizen of the Philippines. Kester’s mother has left him in the care of his aunt so that she can work at sea to try and make money for the surgery's. It will take far too long to make this kind of money, under the limited amount of time Kester has.
