Kerri's Recovery Fund

$30,229 of $35,000 goal

Raised by 162 people in 17 months
My wife, Kerri, contracted H1N1 influenza virus at some point after arriving in China on 13th April 2017. She deteriorated quickly and after suffering from Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome was admitted to hospital Friday week ago and subsequently was placed in an induced coma and put on life support at 2am on Sunday, 23rd April. Kerri remains in the ICU on life support at a hospital here in Nanjing.

Kerri is currently doing really well and is receiving the best care possible. Our travel insurance is covering Kerri's medical costs and costs associated with my extended stay at the hotel, as we do not know when she will be stable enough to fly home to Melbourne.

Unfortunately, we have a lot of costs that aren't covered by by our travel insurance:  loss of wages, costs incurred flying Kerri's son to China, costs associated with Kerri's other daughter to remain in China, support with rehab once she returns home etc.

Obviously, as you can appreciate, this has been a very traumatic time for me and my family, and any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated by all of us.

To all my wonderful friends, family and clients. I have asked Sam to write this as unfortunately l am not strong enough yet to thank everyone individually. I want to thank each and everyone of you for your kind thoughts and prayers, l am totally overwhelmed by the support that you have shown to me, Sam and our family. As you might already know, l am back in Melbourne and fighting this insidious infection. It seems that l will be in hospital for some time yet, can't wait to catch up and see everyone soon. As you can appreciate l will not be checking my FB or WeChat accounts, if you need to know more of my progress please contact Sam or our family. Love you all ❤️ xxx

Update from Sam and Emma - We would like to thank everyone again for their donations and prayers for kerri who is still in the ICU ward. Her condition is improving slowly and is just getting over the secondary lung infection that knocked her around. She is sitting up and communicating with family and the nursing staff. We believe that Chanel 7 will air her story tonight as one of their leading stories.
