Kennya & Family Recovery Fund

$15,925 of $50,000 goal

Raised by 307 people in 11 months
Yesterday, November 23 at 3:40pm our amazing and relentlessly kind family member, Kennya Gonzalez was in a very severe car accident. She was on her way to her boyfriend's family's house for Thanksgiving when she was hit head-on by a reckless driver. Words fall short to express our grief, sadness, and anger.

She was rushed to Lee Memorial where doctors immediately began surgery to stop her internal bleeding. She suffered life threatening internal injuries, broken bones throughout her entire body, and is going to require many more surgeries.
As of Friday, November 24 at 1:08pm Kennya's brain is swollen and she isn't responding as we'd hoped. We're waiting for swelling to subside to take the next step. The doctors' report this morning was not optimistic, but we are praying and hoping for a miracle.

We love Kennya so much, and all of us would love your help. Her immediate family, like her mother and siblings, are in Venezuela and are expediantely figuring out how to come to the U.S. Unfortunately, some members although they'd love to be present can't because of visa difficulties.

For those who don't know Kennya: she is an astounding individual with an enormous heart, a steadfast love for Christ and life of promise ahead of her. She has overcome an innumerable amount of difficulties, small and large. Her resilience to adversity is an encouragement to all those who come in contact with her. Her smile contagious.

Please consider donating to help pay for medical bills and to help her family as they try to come see her. We would greatly appreciate any support that you can give.

My name is Jesús Núñez. I'm Kennya's cousin. This page is run by me and my sister Gaby. We live in Fort Myers and Cape Coral, FL. When Kennya first came to the U.S. she lived with our family for a year and she became like a sister to us.

Funds will be used for medical and legal expenses. Also to pay for travel expenses for family. And funds will be dispersed as needs arise. Funds are currently being handled by myself and my mother. We are still waiting to know if there are any benefits from car insurance and how much expenses are since we are still in the hospital.

Today was a tough day, but we made it through with God's strength. We're all exhausted. Despite Kennya being brain dead as previously mentioned, her heart is still beating because of the machine and medicine. The doctors allowed Kennya's mom to spend some time with her before disconnecting her body from the machine. Kennya's mom along with Kennya's sister, who wasn't able to make it in time to the US, decided today to donate Kennya's organs to those in need. For those who didn't have the fortune to meet Kennya, she was sincerely one of the most selfless and generous people. Kennya would give the shirt off her back to those in need. For her to give her organs to someone so that they could be blessed to have their life saved is a testament of God's love manifested in Kennya.

We're still grieving the loss of our incredible Kennya. We love her and will miss her so much. We will update you on any ceremonies that may happen in celebration of her life.

Thank you for your continued prayers and donations. They will help with making arrangements and coming expenses.

Kennya's mother Ligia arrived safely in Miami International last night and made it to the Kennya's hospital early this morning around 2:30am. Although Kennya is brain dead she is still on life support. The doctors had a chance to speak with Kennya's mother this morning and confirmed the prognosis with her and that they've done as much as they can for Kennya.

We are all still grieving, and a lot of family and some friends have come to see Kennya and in support of the family.

Kennya's sister is still wanting to come to the U.S. but is still having some legal difficulties with leaving Venezuela.

Thank you all for your donations and prayers. Ligia came to the U.S. with little funds so your donations are greatly appreciated. The next steps are being planned. We will update you when we have more information. Thank you all.
