Keeping the Duncan Showroom A'live'

$7,128 of $48,000 goal

I decided I should add more story to this goal we have stated...right now the need is to come up with approx. $12,000 to keep the landlord 'happy'
yes, it is a fair chunk and it is not that hard to fall behind continuously like we do
why do we continue what seems an endless up hill battle?
watch some of our youtube videos of concerts at the Showroom, discover the varied styles/genres of music we present, listen to their nightly comments about the Showroom how it needs to remain open, see the ages of the musicians,
a mecca for touring bands, a creative force for locals...a place that actually cares about the music and how it is presented
we believe in what we do and its benefits to our community and the  Canadian music scene

please donate how ever you can

ps. we are looking for more sustainable ways to stay open

but yes, we do need a 'tax' base to help keep the small independents open

below is our prevoius post

Why is our new goal so much smaller at $48,000  than the $485,000 originally requested ?
Because the offer on the building fell through and the pressure is somewhat off us to buy the building asap.

$48,000 would be enough tp pay our rent for a year
One of the main rules if we was to stay in this location.

We do presently  bring in enough to cover utilities but not the rent as well
So we shift our attention to just finding people to aid in the subsidizing of our performing arts programming

Our original goal was to raise enough funds to buy this building that we have occupied for 4 years so as to continue presenting performing arts and musical appreciation to the community in the Cowichan Valley and the wide world web via youtube with almost daily broadcasts and archives of local as well as touring musical acts.

I  have 30 years of community performing arts presenting in the Cowichan Valley and it is well known Ted and I do work tirelessly to continue a level of quality exceeded by few. And we do live frugally.

In our 16th year of bringing music and community together, the Duncan Showroom once again extends its hand to the community that  we hope / trust  will support our ongoing endeavours of providing a safe venue for all ages to experience and enjoy the benefits of 'live' music as an audience member and /or as a performer.

Ways you can give:

If a donor were to want to purchase  a ' brick'  as a 'foundation supporter' of this Showroom campaign, for a $100 -$500 or more donation, upon request, one of the many pieces of granite/marble that grace the Showroom shelves could have the supporters name applied to a chosen piece so as to be remembered as a 'foundation supporter’....must be requested

Patrons can purchase $100 of Duncan Showroom Showdough to gift to friends to discover that special Showroom concert experience
If the Showroom alumni, the well over 20,000 performers who have graced the Showroom stage, in our 3 locations in 15 years  to date and raved about the experience, were to offer up $2- $5 even 10 each, or the price of even one CD they sold here, hell, we would easily be able to to purchase the building!

We know it is hard to find the time and the money these days to attend all the concerts we offer up but please know that every dollar that does come in keeps the Showroom experience a'live' for those times when you can make it.

I know that what is being done through the Showroom experience is a valid and much needed part of this community and the greater musical community across Canada.
Our hearts are in the right place (Longevity John / Ted Cadillac and those that volunteer)

as we ready for the 39 Days of July 2019 version, I am reminded how much cash flow does not come thru the Showroom doors during the festival, even leading up let alone after the festival...the performers and bills that do not pertain to us are paid first, if and when there might be monies left over, the tents/stage/extra gear/wages get to share that monies
bad business plan? depends if you put monetary value on what transpires in our community with the idea of free music to everyone for 39 days in downtown Duncan put on by some guys joining hands with a society to make sure it happens.
that feat alone should be worth $48, 000...the years rent needed
this evening we received another donation of a $100 who mentioned the Duncan Showroom 'gives unparalleled opportunity to local musicians and music loving residents of the Cowichan Valley'
we will carry on till we can't carry on no more

'sometimes you have to believe it to see it'
thank u to all who have stepped forward and those still contemplating
due to the generosity of arts patrons, we have caught up on the rent, paid off the big winter hydro and gas bills, kept Shaw cable at bay so we can still stream our concerts and had a chance to breathe

we will continue to keep our hands out for contributions cause we believe in what we are doing needs to continue

and it appears some others do as well

'sometimes you have to believe it to see it'
it is our desire for people to understand the need to fund the arts on a regular basis
all these donations so far are from patrons of the arts and we trust there are more who will step forward

we have been able to catch up on our hydro bill, pay off our gas bill from the harsh winter, keep Shaw cable at bay and keep the landlord happier....now to maintain this stability.....
thank u to all so far and to those contemplating
