Keeping Tabatha Breathing

Donation protected
Can you imagine what it is like to try to live, work, learn and sleep whilst breathing underwater?

NO

Well this is how my daughter lives her life, every day of her life.

Please read on if you feel like you can help.

My daughter was diagnosed in 2015 with Brittle Asthma, at the time we did not realise how potentially life threatening this disease was, or how it would change all of our futures.

My daughter is wonderfully talented, bright, strong, stubborn and obstinate and as such has not allowed this disease to stop her in every goal she has wanted to achieve. As such she has completed several years at college and is now studying at university, as well as holding down a part time job. Due to her age, being a student and working part time she is not entitled to any funding for the medical aperators she needs to just keep her fit and healthy, and able to live life to the fullest she can.

Tabatha has gone without to purchase all the equipment she has needs so far, just before coronavirus hit she was well on her way to saving for;

1. A new bed
2. A Dyson fan
3. A new nebuliser

When the coronavirus hit she, like everyone else, was furloughed and sadly the savings have dwindled. Her workplace is due to open around 5th of July, but sadly Tabatha will not be able to return for sometime.

For those who do not realise Brittle Asthma causes many more complications then the ordinary kind, a simple task of climbing the stairs or putting on shoes can leave Tabatha breathless, having a nebuliser at home has enabled her to stay out of hospital as she is able to submit the required medication when needed.

The asthma can be triggered by many things including ordinary dust in and around the home, therefore keeping Tabatha's room dust free is of upmost importance. Many people know that cold can trigger an attack but few people realise heat can do the same, as it has been particularly warm this year Tabatha's fan has been working non stop to keep her cool, safe and out of hospital, which  has been our main aim since March.

Both the fan and the nebuliser were inherited items from  when my parents passed away and as such have survived reasonably well in these circumstances. The last item of the bed may not appear to be a medical emergency however, let me try to explain. Due to Brittle Asthma Tabatha's lungs have been badly damaged and will never heal. At nighttime, when she is lying flat, her lungs will fill with mucus (imagine breathing underwater) whilst in hospital she has learnt that sleeping on a raised bed enables her lungs to clear, giving her a better nights sleep. So we have been saving to buy an adjustable bed allowing her to continue breathing comfortably every night.

These three items will greatly improve Tabatha's quality of life as well as keeping her at home and away from the dangers that a hospital stay might bring during these difficult times. In normal circumstances I would not consider asking my friends, family and complete strangers for help (Especially as everyone is in the same situation financially) but I'm so concerned now for my daughters health I no longer know where to turn. We have exhausted all avenues of personal credit and loans and all my work literally disappeared when the virus hit.

Thank you for reading all of the above, my daughter never asks for anything and I wish that I could help her to get these necessary items, but I sadly have no savings.
If anyone feels that they are able to donate to this cause it would be greatly appreciated by both myself and my daughter.

Blessed Be,
Kirstin X
