Keep The Wooden Wheels Service Alive

$18,705 of $20,000 goal

Raised by 195 people in 5 months
Many of you may have heard that the Wooden Wheels location on Main Street in Newark has closed its doors. For more than 40 years Wooden Wheels has been a staple for the cycling community of Newark and for Delaware as a whole. It started from a small shop and expanded into what so many of you have known to love. With that said, a few of us are working to sustain the same quality of service that you all have expected from Wooden Wheels in a friendly, healthy, and productive environment.  A lot is changing but the wheels are in motion to try and set up a completely new, unaffiliated, smaller, more sustainable, service-oriented location, with familiar faces to the name Wooden Wheels not far from downtown Newark. Our community has relied on the name Wooden Wheels for many years to keep them rolling, now new names are relying on our community to keep us rolling.

For any questions or concerns about future service and repairs please Email: woodenwheelsbikes@gmail.com

Cheers!

- Chris, Robbie, & David

Update / Grand Opening Information

We've almost made our fundraising goal! Thanks for the support, everyone. With that said, we wanted to reach out and let everyone know that because of the fundraising efforts thus far, we have been able to secure a lease on location just outside of downtown Newark. It's virtually on the Pomeroy trail - 405 New London Road, Newark Delaware.

Additionally...

We are having our GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION on Saturday, April 7th. The plan is to have a few food trucks in the parking lot, music, coffee, and some home brewed "Wooden Wheels Trail IPA" (along with other brews) for the adults. Festivities will start around 11 am and run until we all good and tired.

Group Rides are still being scheduled and we will reach back out to everyone on here and on our facebook when we have a solid schedule for what rides are going out and at what time.

It's really happening! And it's all thanks to you!

See you all on April 7th!

WHOA! We're almost there!

Here's an update:

We are in the final stages of solidifying a lease and if all goes as planned - we should have a location by the end of the week with an opening date for early April. Until then, we are still working on bikes and have tons of time to schedule service for your ride (email us for more information).

Also, if you haven't seen on our Facebook (facebook.com/woodenwheelsservice) we have some really awesome stickers with the Wooden Wheels Service & Repair logo on them. We'd love to hand some out to all of you! If you'd like to shoot us an email with the subject line (GoFundMe) containing your address, we will be mailing out stickers and a little something else to say "THANKS EVERYONE!" later this week.

Our email is: Woodenwheelsbikes@gmail.com

Update!

We've reached well over our half-way mark and things are moving forward at a faster rate than we expected and it's all thanks to you - the community!

We're in the process of finalizing the business license and lease details now and (if all goes as smoothly as it has been) we should be in a solid location and open for business by April 1st - that is our goal!

In the meantime, we have openings for service and repairs and would love to help get your bicycles, tuned, lubed, and ready to ride before the weather breaks. If you need some work done, or just want to say, "Hey!" shoot us and email at:

This last week has been a big change for all of us. It’s wild to think that it’s only been a week since we started this campaign and, with the help from all of you, we have reached the half way point of our goal. Thank you!

The Newark Post wrote an article about our efforts. The link is below. Hopefully it will clear up some questions that people may have.

We are still moving forward and the next few weeks will be crucial to our campaign.

Thanks for the support! We will keep you updated.
