Keep Monkton General Store open!

This little General Store has had many names and owners over the past 150+ years. It has been through many facelifts and grown some too! I have heard many stories from many customers about their memories of this place. I grew up in the city and thought I knew the meaning of community. I learned the true meaning after moving to a tiny town in Vermont. People truly care when someone needs help and sometimes they get a lot more help than expected. When someone’s house burned down, the hurricane devistation when all the abandoned dogs needed help or the town is out of power the MGS was a drop off area for the needing families and animals adding in donations themselves as well. Staying “open” even with no power and boiling water on the stove in their house for coffee and water and just a place to go. 

Now they need our help. In 3 days the store will have to close for good. Times are really really tough for small business especially General Stores. It’s very hard to compete with grocery stores and chain stores. These little stores have to do anything to get people in the door. MGS has the most amazing chocolate I’ve ever tasted! Darcee and Sam have done great for the past 11 years running this place and deserve a fighting chance to keep this place going. We have 3 days to come up with enough money to keep the doors open. I absolutely LOVE MGS. You can tell by the smile on my face when you come in in the morning or early afternoon. So come help keep MGS open, as a community we can do this! Every little bit helps.
