On Tuesday, April 24th, Keegan had a grand mal seizure at home and was rushed to the hospital. The 24 hours that followed were filled with fear and uncertainty. The head CT imaging in the ER showed a dark mass on the left side of his brain. A few hours and one MRI later, a neurosurgeon was telling Keegan that he was going to need a craniotomy to remove a benign meningioma tumor from his occipital lobe on the left side of his brain.

Thanks to the help of the amazing staff at Norman Regional Health System, the surgery went well and Keegan's recovery has been going smoothly. However, this unexpected life turn has placed an unanticipated burden on Keegan, his wife Paige, and their family. Keegan will be unable to drive for the next six months. He will have to start taking a new anti-seizure medication for the rest of his life and follow up with his surgeon for many years to come. For the next several months he will need to rely heavily on the care of his family and take on the extra expense of medical bills to pay for the wonderful care he has received at the NRHS.

The last few days have been tumultuous, but one constant that has greatly impacted and touched the Long-Wheeler family is the unwavering love and support shown by Keegan's family, friends, co-workers, and church family. Everyone has been eager to know how they can help, so I am making this page as an avenue to offer some assistance to Keegan and Paige, and leave some words of support and encouragement. There are not enough words to fully express the gratitude the Long-Wheeler family has been feeling this week. Thank you so much to everyone for your continued support and encouragement.

Your continued prayers and support are greatly appreciated.

Keegan's wife Paige wanted me to share this update with you all: To everyone who has donated to and shared our page, thank you so much. Words cannot express how humbled we feel by your generosity. Keegan and I were getting teary this morning when we saw the fund surpassed $6,000. I never expected any of this--not the seizure, tumor, surgery, or how overwhelmed we've been by the love and support we've received in the past week. Now, I'm not surprised by any means by the generosity and the strong hearts that all of you have--but I am overwhelmed (in a good way)! In the medical sense, Keegan is doing well. He's fighting a cold that started before our hospital stay, but other than that, he's doing excellent. Thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and love. It means so much more than you know.

An update from Keegan's wife Paige: We were able to bring him home to his parents' house on Saturday around noon. Our plan is to rest here and get him on a steady recovery before moving him back to our apartment. But his road to recovery has already started and has been exceedingly smooth thus far.
