My name is Felix, I'm an aspiring artist based out of a very small town in Kansas just outside of Topeka. My highschool has an outstanding art department and I've been studying sculpture for 3 years now, just this year I'll have a completed sculpture portfolio that will be reviewed at the end of the year.
This year I was awarded 4 Gold Keys, a National Silver medal award, and a Nomination for the American Vision Award, all from the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. All of these awards are very hard to obtain, and I've worked for 3 years to develop a sculpting style that has caught the eyes of hundreds of people.
While this is a great achievement, these awards don't pay for college tuition, and my family doesn't have much spare money that they haven't already spent entering into these contests, and portfolio submissions.
This year I applied for the Kansas City Art Institute's Summer Pre-College ArtLab. This program gains me 3 college credits, as well as 3 weeks of sculpture teachings from professors, and a new crowd of people to meet with my skill set. I was one of 93 people accepted, and 1 in 8 that was selected for a $1,000 scholarship. This is great news, but there is still a balance of $1,799 to be paid before June 5th. I would greatly appreciate the support of my peers to achieve this goal and to further my art career. I've been doing art my entire life, and would really like to eventually be accepted into KCAI as a college student after I graduate, this would increase those chances.
I do have rewards for those that donate certain amounts.
$25 or more will recieve a small original watercolor painting from me, and a handwritten thank you note for your support.
$50 or more will recieve a large original watercolor painting from me, as well as a handwritten thank you note for your support.
$150 or more will recieve an original 5-6 inch sculpture from me, a large original watercolor piece, and a handwritten thank you note for your support.
