I am Billy's sister, Nikki Budde, and am asking for your support of my brother and his family as they go through these tough times. They will pull through this together and with your support, won't have to worry about the financial burdens of the medical bills that are about to come in. Here is their story, told by Billy's wife, Jennifer.
This is our family. William is the love of my life and is the most amazing father/husband I could ask for. He works evening/night shifts so we do not have to send our kids to daycare. He does not complain about the lack of sleep, takes care of our kids and provides for our family.
At the beginning of September, the unexpected happened and words that we thought we'd never hear (you know, because it just won't happen to us), we heard. William had been having a constant low grade fever and body aches for a couple months. Finally, he decided to go to the doctor (the nagging from me and his mother also helped). With all his symptoms, the doc thought he only had RA and sent him for a chest x-ray and that's when it changed. The following week we went in for his results and that's when the doctor said, you have Lymphoma. My world stopped! CANCER! MY husband can't have cancer. Next, he had to have a CT scan to determine what kind. From there, the results where sent off, we saw another doctor, William had a biopsy of a lymphnode in his neck and finally, we met with the oncologist. That's where we learned William will be battling, Hodgkin's Lymphoma Disease (the rarest form), at least stage 2. He will have 6 months of chemo with treatments once every other week for 4-5 hours.
On top of all that, I, Jennifer, have learned that I will need to have preventative Uterine removal surgery to prevent me from progressing to cervical cancer in the near future. This will put me out of work at the end of the year into the beginning of the new year, for 6 weeks.
All of this is unexpected! NO one ever thinks that both parents are going to be sick or have to go through something like we are at the same time. But we will push through this! We have everything to live for with our super, smart, Sam and adorable, amazing, Addisyn! Our kids keep us pushing, fighting, striving to be healthy so that we can give them the lives they deserve. I strongly believe that God will never give us anything we can't handle and that he will provide in our time of need. He puts people in our paths for reasons. We are asking for your support as well.
