$32,371 of $50,000 goal

Raised by 467 people in 25 months
Please join us in raising money to pay for Katherine's medication. Currently Jaime and David are paying $3300 a month for meds and are also looking into a trial medication from Israel which will add to this expense. Katherine was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) an incurable hard to stabilize form of brain cancer June 2nd, 2015. Katie was given a prognosis of 9 to 15 months over 8 months ago. We refuse to give up, we refuse to lose hope! If you find it in your heart to donate to this fund we thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Please pray that Katherine be the breakthrough to treat this horrific desease. We encourage you too follow and share Katherine's story at https://www.facebook.com/KatherineTheBrave/

We are looking for some volunteers for a McKenna Claire Foundation Lemonade stand next Saturday in Costa Mesa.
McKenna passed away from #DIPG just as Katherine did, and her family works tirelessly to raise funds for pediatric brain cancer. They supported our family, and were able to help guide us to treatments and medicines throughout our DIPG journey with sweet #KatherineTheBrave.
Sadly, this year, Katherine will not be there with us. She had the most wonderful time at last years stand. She loved serving lemonade.
I need some youngsters and teeny boppers to:
Serve lemonade to paying customers.
Pass out flyers to the local businesses.
Put flyers on cars in the parking lot.
Set up the stand.
Take down the stand.
Location: Schools First Credit Union, 2300 Harbor Blvd, Costa Mesa, CA 92626.
Starts at 9 AM and ends at 1 PM.
Let me know if you are interested! Volunteer hours will be given to the kiddos if needed!
If you just want to donate to help us find a cure for DIPG, and for kids like Katherine, McKenna Claire, Parker Landis, and thousands more, you can go here and mention Lemonade Stand! We will add it to the total at the end of the day!

Today we said our final goodbyes to Katie Baby. We watched her go in, and we cried. Together.
It's been unseasonably cold for the past few days, and starting tomorrow the heat wave comes. Strangely.
A balloon followed me around this morning, and right before we were to leave it floated from one end of the house, all the way through the house, into the parlor, and to the right of the living room. It hit me and continued to remain there until I grabbed it and tied it to Katie's items going with her. I brought it to Katie today. It also went with her.

Katherine's Eulogy from Mommy and Daddy

--A young life cut short--

Do not judge a song by its duration
Nor by the number of its notes
Judge it by the richness of its contents
Sometimes those unfinished are among the most poignant…
Do not judge a song by its duration
Nor by the number of its notes
Judge it by the way it touches and lifts the soul
Sometimes those unfinished are among the most beautiful…
And when something has enriched your life
And when it’s melody lingers on in your heart.
Is it unfinished?
Or is it endless?

Katherine was a daughter, a sister, a niece, a granddaughter. But beyond the labels, which she took to so naturally, and handed down to her by birth order, she was also a naturally patient leader. A loving care giver, even in her time of suffering. A consoler to those children also suffering her fate. A kind ear to those struggling to come to grips with her diagnosis. And an amazing cousin and friend to children and adults, alike. You were special, and everyone knew it. Katherine was unfinished.

Katherine, we promise to continue the fight against this cancer for you. We can do this because you've given everyone a precious gift in more ways than you know. You've left us with some amazing tools. You've shown us that even in the worst of suffering, we all still have a little more to give, to ease the suffering of others and to fight one more battle. You've shown us that even as we lose ourselves, and our ability to function as humans, or our natural instincts are being ripped away from us, you, or we, can still smile and laugh. You've shown us how strong the bond between family, friends, and even strangers, can be when it comes to supporting and loving a child who is suffering with an incurable disease. You've taught us that hope and love can move mountains, pay bills, pay thousands of dollars in oils for a better quality of life, surpass a life expectancy, and keep a family functioning. You've also given a piece of your flesh and blood to science for further research. It will not help you, but it will stop others from going through the nightmare that you experienced, and I know this would have been your choice. You were a giver, with no regard to yourself, often. Katherine was endless.

Katherine, we will miss your laugh, your giggles, you witty brain, you half hugs and kisses, your love for Hawaii, weird socks, Legos, rainbows, unicorns, sherbet and movie nights. We will search our entire lives for anything comparable to you, but we are highly unlikely to find it, because you were unique, and we could see that in your eyes, through your old soul, from day one.

Katherine you will not be judged by your short life, or insurmountable suffering. You are not finished. You are endless.

We love you Katie Baby. You are Katherine The Brave, now Katherine The legend.

Loves and Kisses, Daddy, Mommy, Tori and Alissa

I don't know anything about what she has, but I can tell you as an adult 41 I have a really difficult time with most of what you described because of my disability & I have alot of the same tantrums & guilt. I'm sorry you have to deal with that. I'm sorry your little girl has to go through it. I can't imagine how hard it is.

I lost my husband to Esophageal cancer almost 2 years ago...40 years of marriage...I was, and am, devastated. Everytime I want to give up, I look at the 2 beautiful children he left me and remember this: "In the end, I am the only one who can give my children a happy mother who loves life"....stay strong and always remember this for your other daughters....they need you more than ever!
