Karson Whitesell Memorial Fund
Karson Bailey Whitesell was a 19 year old young lady shot and killed in a random act of violence on January 23, 2018 while working at the Peach Stand in Fort Mill, SC. Karson was a bright light with a beautiful spirit that was taken from this world far too soon. She had a servant's heart and a love for children. She was also a talented artist. Last year, Karson spent two months in Africa doing mission work to help those less fortunate. As part of her mission trip, she raised money to provide a permanent shade stucture for a community in Southern Swaziland. These structions are used as "care points" to provide respite from the scorching sun, a meal each day and discipleship for up to 140 children. Karson and her team were able to raise enough funds to provide one such structure. As a lasting legacy for Karson's passion for helping others, we are trying to raise enough money for 19 of these shelters, one for each year of her far too short life. Rest In Peace, sweet Karson. May the work you began never end.+ Read More
Before we can transfer the funds raised here to Karson's Kompassion Project non-profit, GoFundMe requires that we be very specific as to how the money will move from this GoFundMe to the KKP bank account. KKP will then be in charge of working with Adventures in Missions to identify where the care points should be built and actually building these points. Karson's mother, Debbie, will then travel to Swaziland to dedicate the projects in Karson's honor.
Karson's Kompassion Project's 1st Annual Kommunity Kare Day in honor of Karson's 20th birthday was held on February 18, 2018. The event will always be held on the Sunday closest to Karson's birthday. This year 6 projects benefiting local organizations were completed by over 100 people. The event ended with a prayer and balloon release. Go to karsonsproject.org for more information.
We are so excited to announce the formation of Karson's Kompassion Project, a non-profit created to continue spreading peace and love to those in the shadows. The money raised here will be used to serve the people in Swaziland as mentioned in our original goal. We are working alongside Adventures in Missions (the organization that Karson traveled with last summer) to identify and detail the projects KKP will fund and support. The work that we plan to do is varied but will all be focused on spreading love to people who need a little extra. Go to karsonsproject.org to learn more.
