This page has been set up to support our family member, friend, and fighter in her 5th journey of battling cancer in as many years.
Kimberly was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma on January 5th, 2011. She fell out of remission in March, 2012, that required a stem cell transplant to save her life.
Post-transplant, Kimberly contracted PCP pneumonia that had her in ICU and in the hospital for 2 months. Five (5) months later, she suffered a near debilitating case of Guillan Barre. She was temporarily paralyzed from the neck down and was hospitalized nearly 3 months, learning to move and walk again, while undergoing several hours of intense therapy a day.
After 2 years of seemingly good health, Kimberly was diagnosed with her 3rd cancer, aggressive Squamous Cell Carcinoma, in November 2015, that required surgery and then 30 radiation treatments. While undergoing treatment, a new node was discovered in April of 2016, her 4th diagnosis and 2nd squamous cell carcinoma. She underwent a radical neck disection, a partial right paradectomy, and advancement flap in May 2016. Treatment was not allowed due to previous radiation and amount of chemotherapy she had already endured in years prior.
The night before Thanksgiving, Kimberly received a call that her PET scan showed more of the same and it had metastasized to 3 areas. Testing was done and then she was transferred to Siteman Cancer Center. On, December 21st, Kimberly met with a head and neck cancer surgeon. A biopsy was done and due to aggressiveness and severity, a team of pathologist and cytologist was sent to give immediate feedback. She learned that surgery had to be done ASAP, in January, otherwise she would be given a year to live. Surgery is going to be radical and extensive due to aggressiveness, 3rd diagnosis, and no radiation is available to her. Chemotherapy will be determined, but is looking possible.
This fund is set up to help with costs she and her family will endure for trips to St. Louis, time of work, and other related expenses.
