Kara's Medical and Living Expenses
Donation protected

Kara Zordel has dedicated her professional and personal life to helping others in need but she now finds herself in a critical time of need.
Kara, the former CEO of San Francisco’s Project Homeless Connect, is a talented and passionate visionary who has led numerous efforts to bring resources, support, compassion, and dignity to thousands of individuals and families experiencing or risk homelessness.
A few years ago, Kara started experiencing health issues. Since then she has undergone extensive testing and a series of inconclusive diagnoses. As her health continued to quickly deteriorate, Kara’s resolve to not be defined by her illness grew even stronger. She continued to dedicate all of her energy and passion to making a positive difference in the lives of others.
Struggling with serious mobility and other health-related issues, Kara is stepping down from her position to focus on her health. The road ahead will definitely not be easy. Without an income or other significant means of support, she can no longer afford to stay in the Bay Area, and pay high rent, medical and student loan expenses, and all the other things needed to be independent and self-sufficient. As she begins a new chapter in her life, she will face financial and health hurdles, but I know Kara and I know that she won’t let these impediments stop her from being a positive force in life and continue to inspire others.
On a personal note, Kara is the most loving, loyal, and selfless friend. I have learned a lot from her and she has pushed me to do more and be better. She has been and continues to be a true inspiration to me and many others.

I have set up this campaign to help alleviate the huge financial strain she is experiencing. However, I know she would also deeply appreciate any messages of support from friends, family, colleagues, and even strangers :) Words of encouragement can have a profound impact and will give her the strength she needs to overcome any challenges that lay ahead!
Kara has kept her struggles private, but recently decided to open up and share her experience in a recent San Francisco Chronicle article. Read more about her story here:
