Hello! I would like to take a minute and tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Kara Leigh Janes and I have wanted to be an actor for as long as I can remember. I started taking acting seriously in elementary school doing community theatre and then attended a high school specifically for theatre. After high school I had the opportunity to study at one of the greatest acting schools in America - The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. There I was, living in the heart of New York and studying my passion. But my plans were wrecked when I was asked to do some things that I did not feel comfortable with.
In order to reamin true to myself, I left the school after only one semester. It was a very hard time for me because I had my entire life planned out and suddenly I was back home with only a dream and no plans to achieve it. I was very confused for a while and I began to rely more and more on God because I know He has the perfect plan for me. I realized that I had been chasing this dream of acting for my own glory when I should have been chasing after God's glory. After a lot of praying and time I have realized what I want to do with my talents and passion God has given me. I want to go into TV and Film and be a light for God. The industry has become so dark and I want to be able to shine for Christ and to be able to share His love with the other actors and the crew members I will work with.
Earlier this year I had the amazing opportunity to audition for a talent development company called "Actors, Models, and Talent For Christ" or AMTC, and I was accepted! [Feel free to check out their website here: http://www.amtcworld.com] AMTC has been training and coaching me to prepare me for an incredible opportunity coming up. From December 30th through January 4th, I will be attending a conference in Orlando, FL called SHINE. During this 6 day conference, I will perform in 9 different showcases in front of 50 - 100 talent agencies and casting directors. It will be a great chance for me to be able to get my name out into the industry while shining for Christ.
While this opportunity for my future is great, it has also been a huge financial step of faith. I have been working as a table server in a restaurant in order to save the funds needed to cover the costs involved, including 4 weekend trips to Atlanta, where AMTC holds its training, and a 10 day stay in Orlando, FL for the big SHINE conference.
I believe this is the next step in God's plan for my life, and I'd like to invite you to be a part of my journey. The total cost, including tuition, and travel, comes to about $5000. With some help from my parents, I have already saved about half of this. I'd love to have you join me in this journey.
