Kalevala's stolen van & equipment

Hi, I'm Sabri Julian from Asgaardian Events, organizer of the Kalevala & Grimner European tour. I'm raising this crowdfunding on behalf of Kalevala due to communication reasons/barriers.

On the 18.09.18 between 02:00 & 08:00 in Ostrava Czech Republic, on Brandlova street, at the parking near Ubytovna Pod Mostem hostel, Kalevala folk band's van got hijacked, it contained all of their personal stuff, costumes, instruments, sound system & merchandise.


The local police states that in the past there were few other artists & bands (Like Leng Tch'e, Vera Lux etc...) who got robbed in the same place. We've only known about this after it already happened. Most of them never saw their instruments again, or have been contacted by the robbers offering to redeem their belongings for double the worth.

Venue owner of Barrák Music Club, inspectors & police suspect that the hostel might be cooperating with robbers as it was always well planned & exactly only when bands who played at that venue & were also accommodated at Ubytovna Pod Mostem Hostel.

"...the van could be already in Poland, you might never see it again & even less your equipment..." said one of the inspectors.

Kalevala to all of their fans & metal supporters: " Please, help us find our van and our stuff inside it! Look out for our equipment on Ebay or similar websites, we attached pictures & the list of everything. Please contact us or Sabri if you see anything suspicious!!"

Kalevala live in Erfurt From Hell, 07.09.18

Sabri Julian's first communique: "Despite the loss of their van & all their equipment, Kalevala WILL PLAY in Ostrava, Brno, Budapest & Vienna as planned. But Switzerland will be without them.

Unfortunately, the played shows will be without Alex, their accordion player. We could not find any replacement to his kind of accordion, it was a special one with a high personal value... They will use accordion backing tracks to keep the unique Kalevala melody.

Our whole touring crew regrets the loss of their van & instruments. In times like these, we really need to support each other. Despite the financial loss I will provide Kalevala with a van to continue their 3 upcoming shows. Most importantly we need the support of our fans & friends. We would be very grateful for any kind of donation as the police and we doubt finding the instrument again."

After a tough day at the police stations, Kalevala finally made it to the venue around 10 p.m. to play their show. Grimner & Vorgrum offered their instruments, it took Kalevala 20 minutes to linecheck & start their set with borrowed instruments. After having played the intro and the first song with an amazing sound, Ksenia, lead singer of Kalevala, looked to the crowd & said: "THE SHOW MUST GO ON!" with a powerful voice. After that kind of war cry, the whole touring crew rushed to the front of the crowd to cheer Kalevala, dance & headbang.

Sabri Julian's second communique: "Kalevala didn't talk much, they were devastated by what happened to them today. The first words I heard tonight from Kalevala's frontwoman after losing their van & all their equipment in Ostrava was: 'The show must go on!' I can't describe how I felt, it was a mixture of happiness, pride & empathy. But mostly pride; proud that I had invested my time in cooperating with such amazing artists, happy to see their energy fill the venue again & empathy, as a human being you just have to share their loss emotionally, especially when you were close to each other for more than 2 weeks. Kalevala... Well, If that's not professional & positive attitude... this world is just cruel, such beautiful beings being robbed from their belongings. All they did was spreading love & good vibes & didn't ask for much... Today in Ostrava, I've never seen Kalevala shining that bright on the stage & I've been working with them since 2015, all these feelings made a few tears on my face."

Some stuff are still missing like: Macbook, wireless system, leather merch, jewelry, microphones. (over 5000€)

We managed to raise over 2000€ together at the shows for Kalevala. Fans, bands & the organizer helped Kalevala to reach this amount. People also donated via Paypal & via bank transfer, over 500€.
