Kacey Sanfilippo Leukemia Fund

On the 31st of March, the Sanfilippo Family were given the most devistating of news.  Their beautiful little girl, Kacey has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.  Kacey has been rushed to Brisbane to undergo further examination and commence treatment.
Her mummy, Kirsten and her daddy, Dave are by her side.  At this stage, we don't know anymore about her Leukemia but we will be updating this page regularly.
The sooner we can begin to raise funds, the sooner we can start helping the Sanfillipo family by way of providing meals to them at the Leukemia Foundation Accommodation so they can spend every waking minute only having to worry about their little girl.  We want to be able to assist financially to help keep Kaceys mummy and daddy by her side in Brisbane for as long as possible.  Their mortgage and bills are still going to roll in and with both of them off work, any assistance we can all provide will help to relieve some of the stress that this family is currently undergoing.
Any amount you can afford will help to put a smile back on little Kaceys face by keeping mummy and daddy close by her side.
Please help.

I just wanted to let everyone know that Kacey is now home. YAY!!! She arrived home just days before Christmas, and is doing well. Mum and Dad are still quite anxious about being so far away from the hospital which is totally understandable, and they are very slowly trying to adapt to 'normal' life again. Kacey has already had to go back to Brisbane for a check up (Lumbar Puncture and all those horrible needles for tests) and so far all is as good as it can be for the Sanfilippo Family.
I would just like to say a huge thank-you to each and everyone of you who have donated, whether it be money, time, blood/plasma and prayers for Kacey and her family. WE DID IT!!! We managed to keep Kaceys Daddy with her in Brisbane for the full 8 months (which extended to 9+ months with all the setbacks and infections) but at least they were all together. You have all been amazing and I know the Sanfilippo family have been overwhelmed by the kindness of so many people who have helped in many different ways, and again, THANK YOU SO MUCH FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART FOR YOUR SUPPORT. Kacey still has a lengthly road to travel though - she has trips back to Brisbane every 3 months and maintenance treatment is ongoing but so far, so good.

Kacey also had another surprise visitor in the past month. Trina, who used to work with Kirsten, brought her cousin Lenita to meet Kacey. Lenita was diagnosed with the same type of cancer that Kacey has when she was 2 years old. This was a visit of hope for the whole family as Lenita is now 19 and living life to the fullest! Kacey didn't want much to do with Lenita the first time they met, but on the second day, they were best of friends. Heres to hoping the next month brings more happy times..

Sadly during the past month, Kacey lost one of her little friends from the Leukemia Ward. Cooper was just 2 years old. He fought Leukemia for most of his short life. On the 16th of July Coopers Mummy and Daddy married with their little man my their side, and the next day they lost their little boy at 12.05pm. There is also a Go Fund me Page set up for Cooper to help his family during this extremely difficult time. If you can help them in any way his page is www.gofundme.com/super-cooper-grows-his-wings
RIP Super Cooper.. No parent should ever have to say goodbye to their babies.. :(

Back on the 26/07/17, which was when Kacey and the family came down with the flu, the doctors had approved the family to go home for a visit during that block of chemo as it was an oral chemo. Dave & Kirsten decided that taking Kacey on an airplane full of people in flu season wasn't a good idea, they decided to book a room at the Gold Coast at Q1 so they can at least admire the view seeing as they can't be around groups of people due to Kaceys low immunity. AND as luck would have it, they couldn't even do that due to all of them getting sick. It would have been their first time away from the hospital together since Kacey was diagnosed 4 months ago. You can imagine how much they would have been looking forward to the break, and how shattered they would have felt not to be able to go, and on top of that, they all got sick at the same time so that made it even harder on them to just cope themselves looking after Kacey and having the flu as well!
