My husband went in for dental work in December. It went horribly wrong and he ended up with two broken teeth in his mouth. He was unable to get in to the oral surgeon for a month due to all of the college students in town getting their wisdom teeth removed.

After a month with broken teeth and exposed nerves, he had oral surgery to remove the broken teeth and part of his tongue that had been damaged by the broken teeth. We thought that the worst was over, but as his mouth filled with bone spurs and he was unable to eat and nauseus he started having rapid weight loss and lost over 60 lbs.  The malnutrition began to take it's toll and he developed open sores on his hand and feet and severe nerve pain in his legs.

He is no longer able to drive, work or walk very far. We have a one year old daughter and he is not able to do much for her either. He needs another oral surgery and 3-6 months after that ,when he heals, he should be able to eat again. The doctors are trying to figure out a solution to his nerve pain that is preventing him from working.

He no longer has a paycheck and our medical insurance won't cover his oral surgeries as they classify them as dental. This year has been a struggle and any help we can get would be a huge relief for our family.

Update: Robert has been able to eat better since his surgery and was feeling well enough to start back to work around Thanksgiving. He is still having nerve pain, though. He went in for an EMG test a couple of weeks ago, but the results just came back as "abnormal", so he has to go back for more labs and tests. His next X-ray is in the beginning of February on his mouth and if that goes well, they can proceed with the next step. We are hoping that all goes well and he can eat normally by the end of February! We are so grateful for all of the support we have received and are looking forward to a better year.

Update: Robert went in for his oral surgery this morning. They decided to do an extra metal post in his jaw, so it took longer than expected. There were no complications, though and he is at home recovering. Thank you for all of your well wishes! Also, we switched primary care doctors...again and they are running some nerve tests to get to the bottom of his leg pain and found nerve pain medication that is helping!

I am reminded right now, as I am often of an incident when I was in high school. My car was broken into while I was at work and the box of fundraising chocolate bars I was supposed to sell was stolen. I was so upset and my friend Will Allard walked up to me and asked to buy a large amount of chocolate bars and I told him that they had been stolen and he said" No, you don't understand, I want to buy these chocolate bars". It is moments like this that overwhelm you with gratitude and I hope that I am able to help someone else someday that is going through their own hard times. Thank you all so much...your generosity truly blows us away. XO

I do not know if dry needling would help him but it helped my nerve pain greatly. I don't know where his pain is so thought I would mention it. God bless!
