Allen’s Wishlist

In 1985 Allen Gaspard was born with spina bifida, and the worst kind of this dreaded birth defect. He was not expected to live 5 days. He has survived more surgeries than a normal person would go through in 10 lifetimes. He has endured more suffering than any man should endure.  They said he wouldn’t be able to talk, sit up or feed himself. But he can carry on a conversation with anyone,  he sits up fine and feeds himself without a problem. And he just loves his Mom’s good cooking!

He has been wheelchair and hospital-bed bound his entire life. But he has used the internet to “travel” around the world and touch people with encouraging words. He loves to go to church and he loves to sing. He has made friends here and abroad. He has brightened hospital rooms with his contagious personality and his kind and loving words. His good attitude, in spite of his hardships, has brought many to tears. Nurses actually argue over who gets to be HIS Nurse! That's the kind of person Allen Gaspard is.

And now they say his journey here on earth is coming to an end.

In 2015 his father passed away. That was a blow to this family. And then last year they were trapped in their home in Louisiana by the Great Flood of 2016. He sat in his wheelchair as floodwaters rose, waiting anxiously to be rescued. The electronics in his chair shorted out. For hours he sat in the bacteria-laden waters. Finally some men in a boat arrived and carried him, his mother and sister to safety. They got out with only the clothes on their backs and some of Allen’s medical supplies.

But not before the rancid waters had taken its toll on Allen's fragile body.

He spent the next 3 months in a hospital, trying to recover. But it was not to be. The downward spiral of infections caused irreparable damage. This time, he will not survive.

There are a few things that Allen wants to do before he leaves this planet. Some call it a bucket list. Others call it a life list. Allen just calls it 'my list.'

Allen would love to go on a cruise and would like to make a road trip to see family and friends.

One of the biggest needs for this family is to finish their home. Last year the flood took most of their possessions and their home. They relocated to Tyler, TX. They were able to purchase a peice of property with three buildings. We are trying to get one of them remodeled into a home for them.

After reading his story, wouldn't you like to help him complete his wish list and have a comfortable place to spend his time with family?

Cruise and travel expenses $10,000
Remodel of building $80,000
