Officer Richard Hy's Suspension

$1,800 of $800 goal

Raised by 76 people in 42 months
Officer Richard Hy was suspended without pay until further notice due to his vine videos.  The vine videos help break down the stigma and social barriers between police officers and the community they protect . We all know how stressful this job can be.  Laughter is one way to release that stress.  Per Office Richard Hy. All proceeds will be donated to the police officers who have lost their lives protecting us. These fallen heroes will never be forgotten.

Organizer: Matthew A Milewski

It is a shame that this has happened to this officer. These videos allow the public to understand that the police are human and really makes us identify with the officers. As a nurse I understand high stress levels and what the job can do to an individual mentally and physically not to mention your home life. I understand confidentiality and the reasons we need to have it. I dont feel this officer did anything wrong. I hope this does not deter officers from continuing to reach out to the public through social media. You do a great job and you have my support!

I see that the Keyboard "Police" have come to visit. To anyone who is not a LEO and feels the need to comment negatively, remember that this (and all) officer does the job of protecting you and your property because you do not have what it takes to do his job. Feel free to sit your irrelevant self down. To the administration who suspended this officer: He, and many officers like him, are doing YOU a service by creating these vines. They do help to bridge the gap and show everyone that these officers are human. They go a long way towards helping all of our LEO's get through this ever increasingly stressful job. It seems the cop-blockers can riot if they're stressed, but LEO's are suspended for not only de-stressing in a POSITIVE way, but doing what you are not by bridging that gap. Officer Hy, Thank You, and I hope you are back to work soon.

Dear Mr Derenda, You suspended a wonderful military man and a amazing police officer who I know for a fact has made the streets of buffalo a safer place. Officer Hy has also helped the average joes of the community realize that not all cops are robots and they do in fact have a sense of humor and can have all that while continuing to be professional on the job. Officer Hy puts his life on the line daily and day after day takes guns, drugs , and etc. off the street. I highly recommend you rethink your social media policy along with your decision to suspend such a great officer. I know my family and friends along with the vast majority of the community support Officer Hy and WE WANT HIM BACK ON THE STREETS!

Sorry, but while a great charity, taking the money instead of passing it to the unpaid officer, will not pay his bills. I was under the impression from an article that I read, that he is unpaid, suspended for creating humor while in uniform. Is there another go fund me set up that he will benefit from? I guess someone decided that helping him with these funds would put his employer in a bad light? In reality, they did that to themselves. No good could have possibly come from this type of discipline. Anyone with HR experience, and common sense should have realized that the rule that he broke was not done with malicious intent. I hope he finds a position elsewhere where he is appreciated and taken care of by his fellow officers/brothers.

Keep the funny alive man. Its damn sad that a officer can kill youth for and keep his job but you got one who makes a few jokes and he is off the force. Country is truly going to shit and I hope those who are responsible for this truly get the full wrath of Karma.
