Help Stevie D

Donation protected
If you’re reading this, it is probably because Steve Davis has touched your life in some way. Whether he has played in a band with you, gave you a hug when you needed one, a smile from across a crowded room, or maybe you even partied with the man once or twice, the feeling you have right now is probably one of joy, reverence, and love.

Steve Davis is a friend, a son, a father, a boyfriend, a brother, a bassist, an artist, and most importantly, a human being. He’s also dying of liver cancer.

Let that sink in.

Steve recently found out that the Hepatitis C he has been living with, dealing with, and taking care of for over three decades has progressed into cancer and he is dying. One doctor gave him anywhere from a month or two to a year, but as more information comes in the prognosis continues to change, but one part of the prognosis will not change. Steve has liver cancer and it is terminal.

What you can do to help is donate here. Steve has effectively retired from working as his care is now a full-time job. There is treatment available that can help prolong Steve’s life, but it is expensive. If you know Steve at all, you know he has led a, how shall we say, spartan lifestyle for many, many years and while he does not need a lot to keep the lights on and food in his belly (and good food at that…Steve has learned that a plant-based diet and lots of juicing will help increase his time here with the rest of us), but the treatments are expensive. The first chemotherapy treatment, for example, is almost $5400 and that doesn’t include the fees for the doctor and anesthesiologist.

What you also need to know is that Steve is facing this new twist to his life with the grace and compassion you would probably expect him to have. His eyes are shining bright and he will quickly point out that he is very lucky. He is not in any pain at the present time and aside from the vast amount of energy he is expending to fight his cancer, he is at peace. He looks forward to making more music and painting more during the time he has left, and he is living each day to the fullest.

Steve doesn’t want to you ruin your day with this news. What he does want is to go out with dignity, and as much as it is possible, on his own terms.

Together, we can help him do this. Here’s how…
With each donation, Steve can tackle one of the myriad issues that stand between him and a relatively healthy and dignified life. He is in the process of obtaining disability, which will be a huge help but, in the meantime, he needs all of our help to make ends meet. Our goal is to raise $25,000 through this go.fund.me account and add additional help for Steve through a benefit show in Phoenix, Arizona as well as opportunities through his record label, Slope Records. We are all working together to help Steve and invite you to do the same with a donation today.
