Justin’s Medical Journey

On December 8th, 2018 Justin was involved in a car accident.  He sustained many critical, life threatening injuries that has left him hospitalized ever since.  Justin’s injuries include multiple broken bones leaving him still unable to walk or care for himself.  His journey to recovery and rehabilitation will be very long and challenging.  At this time, he is being cared for at James Paton Memorial Hospital.  The latest visit with the orthopaedic surgeon revealed that he will need to spend another 5-8 weeks healing before he can even begin the road to recovery and rehabilitation in at the Miller Centre in St. John’s.  Justin requires extensive family support during this process.  His Mom(Beth) or other family members have to be with him at all times to help him with repositioning and other tasks.  Nursing staff are wonderful but they are unable to be in his room continuously.  As you can imagine it is quite a challenge to be away from home for this extended period of time.  The support from the community has been tremendous and the family is grateful for that!
