Dear Friends,
On Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at approximately 10:30pm, my family lost a son, brother, nephew, cousin, father, partner/companion, and friend to a senseless and heinous act of violence at a convenience store on
E. 123rd and Phillips Ave. in Cleveland, Ohio.
My wonderful nephew, Kevin King, Jr., was 20-years young. Fifty-one days short of his 21st birthday.
Kevin was born on October 13, 1996 defying all odds of survival from the moment he was born. Everything the doctors said he might not do, Kevin did and more! He excelled with an excitement and spark so bright, that his smile and energy was infectious. He was incredibly passionate about life and was determined as he aspired to live out his dreams. As a new father and family man, Kevin's fiancé, (Nodjaa), and 2-year old daughter, (Kailar), were the center of his life and key to his heart and happiness. His joy was family, music, dancing, acting, theatre, and friendships. So very talented, handsome, witty, comical, caring and super-intelligent - Kevin was a kind, gentle-spirited, loving and considerate person. He was well-liked by many and everyone embraced him.
He was a shooting STAR and nobody was going to stop him from achieving his goals in life....then came the horrible event of the evening of August 23rd. The night Kevin desperately gasped for his last breath of air as his internal organs hemorrhaged. He died on the cold pavement to the side of the store, still clutching the item he had just purchased from the store in his hand.
More than fifty rounds of bullets/shells were found at the scene. That's not a drive-by shooting. That's a massacre of one. Cold-blooded murder for no apparent reason.
Our lives were forever changed by this tragic event. He was murdered by unknown assailant(s) driving a silver Ford F-150 truck with a high-powered automatic weapon(s). The case is presently under investigation and no suspect(s) have been arrested to date of this publication. If anyone has any information that will help bring Kevin's killers to justice, we are pleading with you to please anonymously contact the Cleveland Metropolitan Police in Cleveland, Ohio with your news tip or information. Justice for Kevin is justice for the community and for all who have lost someone they care about to the violence. The people of the City of Cleveland and surrounding areas are unsafe with individuals who have such a disregard for human life running rampant. The criminals must be caught and criminally prosecuted in the court of law for committing this crime. Please pray for healing for our entire family, and pray that the hearts of these criminals be softened so that they surrender themselves to law enforcement.
The family is facing difficult circumstances and naturally we are devastated by this tragedy. Kevin leaves behind a loving fiancé and toddler who economically depended on him for support. Unfortunately, there was no preparation for this kind of unforeseen situation and Kevin and his fiancé were just staring out new together on their own. Nodjaa is now left alone to raise their daughter. She needs help and reassurance.
