His family is asking for help in raising money for legal action.

Ryan's funeral services were held on November 1, 2017.

Ryan was laid to rest in Cannon Ball, ND at The North Scout Cemetary.

The words of Corrine:

" On 10-23-2017 between 8pm-9pm Ryan, a Standing Rock Sioux Tribe enrolled member was fatally shot on Hwy 24 a little south of mile marker 5 by the Standing Rock B.I.A. police.

The horrible decision Officer Webb and Officer Sandland made to take Ryan's life has left his family devastated and torn into two worlds.

Ryan resided on Standing Rock and survived by his Father and Mother George and Roberta , Sister Candace (Clarence), His one and only, Corrine  and three children. His family of Standing Rock will have great remembrance with much pride of Ryan.

An out going man in life - he loved sports; basketball, football, UFC and rodeo. He was an outdoorsman; hunting, fishing, trapping, biking, hiking, adventurous guy!

Being a very involved family man, he always was with, near, or checking in on everyone. He loved to joke to get a conversation started. Always offering advice where needed or lending a helping hand.

Very, very proud to be a DAD!!

He enjoyed cruising the country side. Known by friends and family, his choice of work was always construction by heart.

Having a lot of friends, Ryan always knew that somewhere down the road someone was waiting to say "Hello!"

In beautiful memory of Ryan Gipp.

"We Love You."

FEB 10, 2018 —

The family of Ryan is asking for people's support because it will be a step forward for them to get Standing Rock Sioux Tribe to stand behind them, and push forward for further investigation of 10-23-2017. The family has achieved Cannonball-Solen district support to back the family that an investigation be furthered and also that these officers remain off-duty until complete. The family thanks you for your support, prayers & thoughts, shaking your hand with a heartfelt handshake (especially his children). Thank you.

OCT 28, 2018 —

It's been one year since Ryan Gipp was taken from us. The Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Federal Bureau of Investigation will not release the details about Ryan's death and the officers responsible. In the past year, there has been no justice, no answers.

On October 23rd 2018, one year to the day since Ryan's death, friends and family gathered in Standing Rock to remember Ryan. Many marched in Fort Yates, from the Bureau of Indian Affairs office to the Fort Yates Law Enforcement Center and demanded justice for Ryan. Later, friends, family and community members came together in Cannon Ball for a memorial feed and community giveaway, to remember the day he was unjustly taken from us.

As time passes, our voices grow louder. We will continue to stand up and fight for Justice For Ryan Gipp. If you haven't already, sign the petition. The more signatures we have, the more our voices will be heard by the Tribal Council, the BIA, the FBI, the federal government, and all of those responsible for this continued injustice. Please join us, we are stronger together.
