Justice for Laura's Little Girl

Donation protected

Heather Nabor-Grace and her husband Brian Grace have been raising a child of tragedy.  They have loved her and protected her for almost three years now.  They want to adopt her, but need help.  The little girl's bio-dad, John Makris, was convicted of paying for the murder of her mother, Laura Aumiller (pictured above).   Heather was Laura's best friend.  Before she died, Laura told Heather God had brought them together for a reason.

About two months ago Makris was convicted of hiring two of his own employees (both convicted sex offenders of minors), to kill Laura a week and a day before they were to be married. The shooter was slated to be a groomsman in the couple's wedding.

Now, Makris refuses to relinquish his “parental” rights unless custody is given to his mother,  his alibi at the moment Laura was brutally slain in her own home.  Makris' mother lives in Greece and will likely take this child away from her home and family in America.  Makris has requested a jury trial to avoid relinquishing his rights to Laura's little girl.  He will be able to have one - for free - which is his legal right.  Where is the justice in that?

Please help keep this innocent baby safe and in the Graces' home where she’s been thriving since just after the murder of her mom on Friday, November 13, 2015.

Although she is just 7 years old, the little girl knows she wants to stay with her new “mommy,” “daddy,” and two “sisters.”  Laura's family is united in their desire for the Graces to keep the child.  They know the little one attends Girl Scouts and dance, and goes to  the school Laura chose.  They know the Graces have worked hard to ensure she receives everything her mom wanted for her.  Laura's family knows this child has been safe and loved in the home where she has taken refuge since the slaying of her mom.  Laura's family wants this little girl to be a Grace,   knowing she will be well loved and will stay in contact with her momma's family.  Laura's family knows that if the child is taken to Greece, they will likely never see her again.  Where's the justice in that?

Because of a convicted murderer’s selfish manipulation of the justice system, the Graces' lawyer says it will cost them at minimum, an additional $5,000 to fight to keep custody of the child.  The trial is November 12, 2018.  Heather and her husband Brian want to adopt the little lady, who has been part of the family for almost three years now.  Not only has the entire family suffered the loss of a dear friend, they have been traumatized by the brutal act of John Makris.  They have sacrificed much over the last few years.  They have incurred thousands in attorney’s fees fighting for custody of the child they love, with adoption as the goal.  I know they will continue to fight for her, because they love her, and because it is the right thing to do.  Can you help?

The convicted murderer of the child's mother will be afforded a free jury trial to fight for his “rights” to the child he had with the woman he had killed a week and a day before they were to be married.   Your help will mean the world to the Graces, and to the little girl who wants to join them as her forever family!  It will mean the world to Laura's family because it will mean, at last, justice for Laura and Laura's little girl.

If any funds remain after payment of fees and related expenses, they will be put in a trust fund for the child.

Thank you!
