Fire Recovery Fund for Judy & Elio
Donation protected
On February 8, 2017 at 5am, Elio and Judy Acosta’s lives were turned upside down when a fire that started in their basement consumed their home.
After the damage was assessed, their house was considered a total loss and they were forced to leave with little but the clothes on their backs.
Elio and Judy made it out without injury, but their son-in-law, who re-entered the home to try to save one of the family dogs, was burned and, unfortunately, one of their dogs perished in the fire.
Elio and Judy lost everything in this tragic accident and have been residing with relatives while their house is rebuilt.
To add insult to injury, Elio and Judy's house was robbed and vandalized during the initial repair-period, creating even further setbacks.
Restoring the home to a liveable condition, repairing its most basic elements, removing smoke damage, and completing other necessary tasks are all proving to be extremely costly.
While Elio and Judy are proud and hardworking people who might not otherwise ask for assistance, they are also beloved members of the Buffalo and Medaille College communities. We, their friends and colleagues, have set up this page on their behalf.
Any financial help, even the smallest amount, you can offer these truly deserving people would make this horribly difficult experience easier for them.
Thank you.
