Judy Foster was deeply committed to creating community around her and dedicated her life to the service of others. In 1966, she co-founded a chapter of the “TWIG” organization that runs a wide variety of fundraising efforts for Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Since their inception, the overall TWIG organization has raised more than $30 Million to support patient care, education and research.
Judy spent countless hours making Christmas ornaments, wrapping presents, and leading volunteers for the annual TWIG Bazaar. She was also a founding concessions volunteer at the Memorial Tournament and it’s predecessor run by Jack Nicklaus. Each year TWIG volunteers staff the concession stands throughout the tournament and their wages are donated to Nationwide Children’s Hospital. These and other projects involve hundreds of volunteers and thousands of volunteer hours. Over the years, Judy rose to leadership positions in every aspect of the TWIG organization she touched, and in 2012, she was recognized as the Nationwide Children’s Hospital “Auxilian of the Year” for her exceptional achievement, commitment, and measureable value to the hospital.
In memory of her life of service and charity, and to follow the example she set with her life, our family has established the Judy Foster Memorial Fund to raise $25,000 on behalf of Nationwide Children’s Hospital. In addition to the funds raised, we are donating her personal collection of over 300 Hummel figurines to create a memorial exhibit in Judy’s name.
