As some of you many know, my dearest sister, Judy Bui, got into a car accident that lead to her death. ( https://www.10news.com/news/san-diego-police-respond-to-fatal-crash-on-mira-mesa-street-033018)

Judy was a beloved mother, daughter, and sister. Words cannot describe the feeling my family and I are going through, but we all know that Judy wants us to be strong and to be there for her husband, Berviand, and her two children, Jaidev, and Jaliaa.  She would want us to support them with all of the love in the world.

Judy was a very independent person that excelled in everything she did. She was the one person that would always go out of her way to provide for her family; whether it be for her very own children, brothers, sisters, or our parents. She was the one that would brighten up the room with a simple smile. She eventually became the most successful and driven person we all know. No one could tell Judy otherwise, unless you wanted to get into a serious argument. And, at the very end of each of those times, she would always end up being right, because everything she did was always for the benefit of her family and her peers. Maybe that's why all the signs were pointing towards Judy taking her place in heaven. If so, she deserves to rest and watch over us in peace. She has touched everyone in so many ways, and we can't even begin to describe the weight of this loss.

We are trying to raise money to help cover both the funeral, and her son's medical expenses. A funeral costs approximately $34k+ and a little bit more for church fees and preparation related events.

(Burial site only)

(For the funeral itself)

In addition, Jaidev has sustained immense injuries from the accident (fractures to a couple spots in his skull, his knee, multiple spots on his pelvis, and broken ribs). He will require an intense amount of care and physical therapy in order to recover. We conservatively estimate that it will be about $20k.

Further, Judy was also the financial cornerstone of her family.  We estimate that it will cost another ~$10k to help her family keep the roof over their head for ~4 more months while they transition and move into a smaller place, daycare for their children, and so that her widowed husband may have time to grieve while adjusting to life without Judy.

If you are taking the time to read this, thank you for your consideration and thoughts. We appreciate any support you can provide, and 100% of all funds will be going to her family to cover the costs we've outlined above.  May all our prayers be with Berviand, Jaidev, Jailaa, and the one and only; Judy "Snow" Suong Bui.

Rest in Paradise our beloved Sister, Friend, Mother, and Love.

Sorry for the lack of updates and thank you for keeping our family in your hearts! The prayers are kind and we are grateful.

It’s been a while but Jaidev will start preschool again soon, and his sister will also be starting! Daddy takes the kids to visit mommy very frequently and our family and friends have been so wonderful as to come and spend time with all of us at her resting place.

Jaidev has been recovering well! He’s such a bright kiddo and we are so grateful for everyone’s love and support. Thank you thank you thank you.

Our family hopes you and the special people in your life are having a wonderful weekend so far!

Today we had a party for Jailaa’s third birthday. The family is reunited and we will visit Judy tomorrow at the cemetery for Mother’s Day.

Something that struck me deeply was when the social worker was trying to explain to Jaidev why he was in the hospital, he responded with something remarkable.
Social worker: “you’re in the hospital because your brain got hurt in a car accident.”
Jadeiv: “mommy protected me.”

Mothers are truly something out of the world. I don’t doubt for a second that Judy used whatever she had left in the world to protect her son...

I hope everyone has been well, and our family wishes your family a lot of love, blessing, peace, happiness and prosperity. Make sure to thank the mothers in your life for their sacrifices and love if you’re able to!

Jaidev was luckily released a little bit earlier than projected! So we are very excited about that.

We want to thank the hospital staff at Rady’s Children’s Hospital for being so kind, gracious, generous, and so attentive during this hard time. The team of nurses, therapists, social workers, and doctors really made his recovery go so much more faster! They were just top notch and we were so lucky we had them on our side.

Here’s a photo of Jaidev and his sister Jailaa! She’ll be turning 3 on the 14th!

Thank you everyone for the continued support, love, prayers, kind words, and for thinking of our family despite being so busy in your lives.
