A New Life for John and Gracie

$5,040 of $10k goal

John Pavlich  FORT WORTH, TX
Since having lost my Mother, Toni to cancer in 2015, I felt it appropriate to update this campaign.  I am a legally blind man receiving survivors benefits, so my income is limited. My Mom's home is facing foreclosure so I need to find a new place to live for myself and my dog, Gracie.

Housing assistance programs are setup to support people in my situation. However, most programs in Texas, where I live are currently closed to the application process and the programs I have successfully applied for have a waiting period of at least 2 years.

My goal with this campaign is to secure funds that allow me the opportunity to successfully transition to a better living situation, with a minimal amount left over for utility deposits and basic furnishings.

Please donate, if you can, whatever you can and share this page with as many other like-minded individuals as humanly possible.

Thank You.

I have good news! Thanks to your generous support, I am now caught up on rent and am maintaining a positive balance! My food stamps benefits have gone up from $16 to $109 a month! I'm still dependent on transportation services, which can cut significantly into the money I receive for plasma donations. Last month (March), for example added up to $117 in Lyft fees. Please help offset this cost by donating to or sharing this campaign. Thank you so much for your continued support! -John

I've been donating plasma to help pay some bills. If you have the time (and aren't afraid of needles), it's a good way to make some money and help save lives. Unfortunately, I was temporarily suspended from donating, due to a bruise that formed on my left arm from my most recent session on the 12th. A physician from the plasma center will be evaluating the bruise either tomorrow or Wednesday, to determine its possible severity and when (or even if) I can return to continue donating.

Because of this frustrating setback, I've missed out on compensation I currently depend on to make ends meet. My phone is in danger of being disconnected. I'm asking for your help to maintain service, so that I can stay in contact with friends and family, and still (hopefully) keep making plasma donations.
Thank you.

I bought this desk over a year ago and after several hours of hard work (two people recommended for assembly but it was just me), I finally unpacked it and put it together. This will be my "base of operations" for all podcasts, video recordings and digital art projects for the future. I hope to start generating more content for people soon, now that I have a legitimate, dedicated work space.

While I make my way to earning the title of "starving artist", I ask that you please show your support however you can. I sent off a report change for my SNAP (food stamp) benefits, now that I'm getting settled into this apartment. Hopefully, those benefits should increase substantially, as it's only currently $16 per month.

When Social Services set me up here, the initial idea (at least, as far as I had understood/expected) was to be reinstated with previous Section 8 Housing Assistance, whereby rent is a percentage amount, based on income. Unfortunately, this was not to be the case and while a local church and institution for the blind have graciously helped, their funds are limited and there are a number of families also in need.

My disability benefits are $831 a month. My rent (which includes utilities, making it "All Bills Paid") is $720. I've made the payment for this month. After phone and internet bills, I am basically broke. My goal is to become more self-sustaining through selling art and gaining ad revenue from YouTube but this, like all creative endeavors takes time.

Please help, whether by donations, spreading the word about this campaign or both. Thank you!

It's officially been two years since I started this campaign. In that time, I've witnessed an overwhelming amount of generosity, good will and empathy I'm overjoyed to learn is still possible in this day and age. This campaign was originally setup to mostly benefit my Mother, in her greatest time of need. Though she is no longer with us, your continued support allows her spirit of selflessness to live on and I humbly thank you all, from the bottom of my heart. Here's to you and to a prosperous and optimistic 2017!
