A New Life for John and Gracie
Housing assistance programs are setup to support people in my situation. However, most programs in Texas, where I live are currently closed to the application process and the programs I have successfully applied for have a waiting period of at least 2 years.
My goal with this campaign is to secure funds that allow me the opportunity to successfully transition to a better living situation, with a minimal amount left over for utility deposits and basic furnishings.
Please donate, if you can, whatever you can and share this page with as many other like-minded individuals as humanly possible.
Because of this frustrating setback, I've missed out on compensation I currently depend on to make ends meet. My phone is in danger of being disconnected. I'm asking for your help to maintain service, so that I can stay in contact with friends and family, and still (hopefully) keep making plasma donations.
While I make my way to earning the title of "starving artist", I ask that you please show your support however you can. I sent off a report change for my SNAP (food stamp) benefits, now that I'm getting settled into this apartment. Hopefully, those benefits should increase substantially, as it's only currently $16 per month.
When Social Services set me up here, the initial idea (at least, as far as I had understood/expected) was to be reinstated with previous Section 8 Housing Assistance, whereby rent is a percentage amount, based on income. Unfortunately, this was not to be the case and while a local church and institution for the blind have graciously helped, their funds are limited and there are a number of families also in need.
My disability benefits are $831 a month. My rent (which includes utilities, making it "All Bills Paid") is $720. I've made the payment for this month. After phone and internet bills, I am basically broke. My goal is to become more self-sustaining through selling art and gaining ad revenue from YouTube but this, like all creative endeavors takes time.
Please help, whether by donations, spreading the word about this campaign or both. Thank you!
