Greetings family, friends, and well-wishers!
My name is Anne Chumbow. I am a graduate student at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, where I am pursuing a Master's degree in Global Public Health with a concentration in community health and development. My goal is to use the knowledge and skills I acquire through this program to improve healthcare for disenfranchised and vulnerable populations.
I am reaching out to you for help at this stage because I have tried other avenues but have not been successful. As an international student, I was able to work as a nurse for one year using a work permit after completing my undergraduate studies. During that time, I saved toward my tuition but that has not been enough to offset the bill. I have sought scholarships from my school and also externally without success. I have also tried to get student loans but have not been successful in finding a co-signer to complete that process.
When I got into this program at Emory University, I could not let it slip away. Emory University offers one of the best programs for my career and I just knew that it is vital to accomplishing my goal. Although the financial burden is quite high, I am still fighting to go through this graduate program because I believe in my dreams and in the healthcare difference I desire to make among vulnerable populations.
I currently have a fee balance of $13,000 from last semester (including accruing Finance charges) and I also require $16,400 for my tuition this semester. The total that I have to pay my school for tuition for the 2017-2018 year is now $29,400. If I do not pay this money I will have to leave the country and only return when I have the funds. This is a problem because I may never be able to come back and finish my studies. I risk losing all that I have worked for, dreamed about and may never be a game changer in the healthcare field.
I know that this is a lot of money to request, but I invite you to join my cause! Your support will not only help me achieve my dreams but it will also make a difference in those that I will be able to impact in the future. Your contributions will go primarily towards my tuition.
