Jordan Poole Recovery Fund

$52,887 of $60,000 goal

Raised by 283 people in 45 months
At the 2015 Mint 400 Jordan Poole was riding with Ryan Hancock in the Alexander Racing Class One Car, around race mile 31 Ryan & Jordan rolled; while attempting to get out, the vehicle was struck by another race vehicle. Jordan & Ryan both were transported via flight for life to UMC Trauma shortly after. They determined Jordan suffered a Spinal Cord Injury and had scheduled surgery right away to repair the damage. The surgeon was able to repair most of the damage to the vertebrae’s;  he has a large amount of swelling that we are waiting to subside to determine the next step medically. Jordan will need to go to a rehabilitation Hospital to relearn his motor skills in his legs and that will cause him to be out of work for several months. Jordan currently is in room 321 in the South Wing of UMC Hospital.

We have set up this fund to help offset some of the cost Jordan will incur from this injury. Anything you can do to help is GREATLY appreciated. We THANK everyone for their support by reaching out to Jordan, his family & friends.

It has been a while since I put an update out for everyone so here it is! Today has marked three weeks since Jordan’s second surgery. The doctors in Colorado decided to replace all the hardware that was originally done by UMC here in Vegas. Multiple doctors all agreed that it just wasn’t stable enough and it could affect his full recovery in the long run. UMC also left his shattered vertebrae in, but a piece of the bone fragment was still pressing against his spinal cord quite a bit, so the doctors decided to take his whole vertebrae out and basically put a cage spacer in its place. This way there will be no chance of the fragments moving and creating more of a problem. Along with all that work they added 9 screws with a cage to make sure everything was for sure stable. The surgery went great and the surgeon was more than confident with the work they did. This was a great relief. The first week was hard for Jordan as he struggled with the concept of going through all of the pain AGAIN especially with it being a way more intense surgery. The Craig Hospital did everything they could do to make sure he was as comfortable as possible, even on his worst days.

With just a week out of surgery he began his physical therapy classes again. Even though they weren’t 100% and no matter how Jordan felt he made sure to get himself going.

At the end of last week during one of his therapies he began to feel very weak. He ended up with a slight bug that laid him up for a day. Over the weekend he was able to get plenty of rest and some good meals in and started to feel much better. Jordan hated the fact that something so little could lay him up and he wasn’t able to participate in all of his classes but he did everything he could to get back on track.

This week has been the best by far, He has been able to make all of his classes and he has felt very strong. He has been able to stand with assistance from the therapist and a walker; he’s even been taking steps with this help. The movement in his legs is still strong just weak but the movement in his ankles still isn’t there. He also has the sensation back in his feet. He can feel you touch the right foot more so than the left.

They have him in a standing machine now for 20 minutes a day as this is a prerequisite to get him on one of the more advance machines that mimics the movement of walking on a treadmill. In his classes he does everything from working with weights on his upper body to being on a Stimulator Bike to get his muscles contracting and getting them used to working again.
With the worst behind him, he is definitely making great progress daily. Even if it’s something small, he is still moving forward. It has been an up and down roller coaster and will continue to do so, but it is merely impossible to go through this without all the love and support that continues to come in constantly.

Also Ryan is doing very well.. He has been resting at home, he's still in quite a bit of discomfort but also everyday is a little better.. Everything is healing very well just taking some time to get to 100%.

We are so very grateful for the people in our lives, from family, close friends, new friends and complete strangers this is all what keeps Jordan’s drive going!

Thank you all again on behalf of Jordan and his family! ❤️

P.S. If you are going to be in Vegas this weekend please be sure to stop by the Fundraiser we are having on April 26th at the PKWY Tavern 9820 W. Flamingo Road Las Vegas, NV 89147 at 4pm!! Lots of goodies to be given away.

Unfortunately this update isn't one to be expected. While Jordan has been at Craig hospital they have ran multiple tests and x-rays and have found that there are a couple issues that will need to be corrected with another surgery.. We are hoping the surgery will happen this week, it all depends on if we are able to gather the funds they are asking for up front.. This is heartbreaking news as we thought this part of the road was behind us, but thankfully they did find out these issues and are going to be corrected.. We still need all the support, love and prayers.. It may be a hiccup but man its a big one.. This is definitely a day by day process and there will be days like this, just have to keep moving forward..As soon as we get more information on when the surgery will be I'll be sure to let everyone know.. Please continue to spread the word about Jordan Poole's Recovery Fund with the gofundme account as well as our Bank Of America account.. Thank you all for continuing to be there.. ❤️

Well as today marked the week of when we kicked off this gofundme for Jordan Poole Recovery Fund, we have already reached the first goal. Even though this is just the tip of the iceberg for this long road to recovery with everything that falls in between, it is amazing how fast our community comes together and puts whoever is in need first.

Not only did we reach our goal today, it was also the day that Jordan was transferred to Craig Hospital to start his aggressive rehab to get him back on his feet. It is not going to be easy as most have told Jordan but with everyone behind him to support him, he has all the determination in the world to overcome this challenge.

As I make my trips to Colorado I cannot wait to update everyone with the progress that will be made by Jordan.

This is just the beginning but the continued support will be absolutely necessary..

Thank you all again, whether it is family, friends old and new, or complete strangers, it is refreshing to know everyone will come together and rally till the end!

Love to all -Bree
