Joy Nash's Medical Expenses

Jim Nash (pictured here) has been a good friend and colleague of mine dating back to 1983. We labored together as pharmacists at St. Joseph's Hospital until just the other day when Jim retired after a successful 39-year stint, much of which as our parenteral (intravenous) nutrition expert. His 31-year-old daughter Joy (also pictured here and in 1st update) was crossing a street in the crosswalk at Daytona Beach on the evening of November 4 when struck by a pick-up truck, the driver of which fled the scene (later apprehended). A good samaritan stopped and protected Joy from further injury, called 911, and she was subsequently transported to a Daytona Beach hospital where she has been in intensive care ever since--day #17 and counting.

   After a touch and go start and much prayer, Joy has stabilized somewhat, having overcome fluid drained from her brain, bacterial growth in her sputum, a collapsed lung, a stroke, time on a ventilator, a tracheostomy and more. She now makes eye contact with her family and purposefully squeezes their fingers to the best of her ability. 

  Joy had been living out in LA finding acting work and also doing some nannying--neither of which she is able to do for at least the near-term future. She is without health insurance and racking up bills as she recovers. Joy is obviously not capable of accessing gofundme.com funds but her father Jim certainly is.  Long-term neuro rehab looms for Joy and if you or friends of yours would be willing to help offset her expenses she and her parents, Jim and Donna, would greatly appreciate it. Jim has proven himself to be an honest man and this fund will legally be for him due to Joy's conditions but all of the funds, less gofundme.com's surcharge(s) and fees, will be spent solely on Joy's medical and/or rehab expenses.
