Healing For Josh Ka`ili Walters

Josh Ka`ili Walters, a loving husband and father of two young children, was struck down in the middle of June, 2018, with a devastating disease known as Gillian Barre’ Syndrome.  Guillian Barre’ Syndrome is a rare disorder in which your body's immune system attacks your nerves, causing rapid onset muscle weakness and damaging the peripheral nervous system.  Upon the onset of this disease, Josh declined rapidly within a day.  He remains physically incapacitated for an indeterminate time at Straub Hospital, on O`ahu. The exact cause of Guillain-Barré syndrome is unknown, and there is no known cure.  What is known is that Josh and his `ohana need your help and prayers.

Meet Josh and his `Ohana

Josh lives life to the fullest with his wonderful wife, Crystal, and their two beautiful young children, son, Ka`ililaola, and daughter, Lilinoe. Josh is employed by Curtis Law Construction, while Crystal works at the Grand Hyatt Kaua'i, Anara Spa.  The family enjoys their time doing outdoor activities and spending time with family and friends. Josh loves to surf, fish and golf but his passion is music. Josh is an accomplished musician and can be seen performing regularly at Rob’s Good Times Grill.  Or, he often entertains at weddings or birthday parties, playing with several different local bands as a vocalist and a guitaris. Josh is also dedicated to serving the Hawaiian community with Ke Ho`ola o Lima Lani-Hale Pihana ka `Ikena, a non-profit organization dedicated to traditional healing arts.  He gives his time freely to mentor young men: teaching martial arts, playing makahiki games, woodworking, or healing thru lomilomi. Josh is always one to give freely of himself, never questioning why or how, but just to spend his time giving and sharing his unlimited aloha.

The Future

One of life's greatest fears is facing the unknown. With Guillian Barré Syndrome, this is the case.  It will take months before Josh is able to return to his island home of Kaua`i. He is slowly showing improvements, but recovery and rehabilitation will take time. With Guillian Barré Syndrome, the long lasting effects is not known, so only time will tell.  We all wish for the best.

How You Can Help

Josh and his family face several different hurdles at this time.  The first being the substantial medical expenses which include Emergency room visit, Wilcox Hospital admittance, Air Ambulance and Straub ICU not to mention time for recovery and rehabilitation. The second being a two income family to no income. Crystal is dedicated to his recovery and has been by his bedside since the beginning of this unfortunate event.  And finally, Josh was nearing the completion of his family’s dream home on Kaua`i. Now this is in limbo since he was a self-builder, but it needs to be completed with proper accommodations before his return home.

With this in mind, we humbly ask for your kindness in support of Josh, and his family. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated. Help spread the word so that we may reach our goal. Mahalo nui for your continued prayers and out pouring of love and support for Josh and his family for a complete recovery.   “Ua ola loko i ke aloha, Love gives life within.”
