Josh Derocher's short stories

My Name is Josh Derocher. I am a writer. I write science fiction and fantasy short stories, and I have plans for a novel as well as a non-fiction book. I was also a contributing writer for Destructoid for the past three years, a postion which I was recently laid off from.
I decided I wanted to be a writer years ago, and I started doing what I could to make that happen. I began blogging, which led me to start writing for Front Towards Gamer. I started writing for a handful of other sites, including BitMob, which in turn led me to Destructoid. Due to financial constraints, I was let go from Destructoid in May 2014. I still love everyone there, and I wish them all the best.
I've had to work in retail for years in order to support myself. Over the past few years I have worked two jobs with 60 hours a week to try and make it. I've been lucky enough to transition into working just part-time in retail, but ten years working at a job that means nothing to me has finally caught up to me. I have lost two part-time retail jobs over the past year due to issues with anxiety and depression. I am currently in therapy to deal with these issues, and my therapist believes that I need to make a change if I am really going to move forward.
I am currently completly unemployed. I lost an overnight job at a store a couple months ago, and I was just let go from Destructoid. I could sit around and panic and worry, but instead I am trying to take this as an opportunity. I am trying to pour myself into my writing as much as I possibly can.
Over the past few years I have written a handful of short fantasy and science fiction stories, which I have been trying to get published. Right now I am getting the completed ones polished up, and I am finishing anything that's only half done. I am also trying to move forward with a novel that has been on my mind for a few years, as well as beginning to compile some notes into a non-fiction book.
This is where you come in. I'm at a point where I can focus on my writing, and I know if I can have a few months dedicated to it completely that I can make it happen. In order for that to happen I need to be able to keep paying rent, and keep food on the table.
I will also be looking for freelance opportunites, and possibly another gaming outlet where I can work as a contributor.
I know I can do this if given the chance. I will make it happen no matter what, but you can help it happen sooner rather than later.
