WE DID IT!!

Dragged our asses around the 26.2 miles and managed to run all the way and not walk. The running may have been very slow during a few miles but it was still running.....  We ran the race whilst carrying an orange to #sharetheorange

A brain affected by dementia is on average 140g lighter than a healthy brain, roughly the weight of an orange!

We are raising money and awareness  for Alzheimer's Research UK and every donation will help them to find treatments, preventions and hopefully a cure for this life shattering disease.

Dementia and Alzheimer's is leading cause of death for both men and women in the UK.  Without effective treatments, one in three children born today will die with dementia.

Unfortunately our Nain (Welsh Grandmother) had dementia which has made us aware of how it not only affects the person but also those around them.

Our Nain had good days but she also had days when she wouldn't want to move out of bed and could be awful to those around her. She was a very proud woman which made it even harder when you saw her struggling to remember things, yet put on a brave face when she was so clearly confused by her surroundings.

It is heartbreaking to know things are only going to deteriorate and there is nothing we can do except be there for her and hopefully reassure her that she is safe. Sadly since we began fundraising she passed away due to dementia which took us all by surprise as she still seemed so strong at times.

We loved her so much and yet we were completely helpless to do anything against this disease, which slowly took away the woman she once was.

Most people associate dementia with memory loss, but the condition affects people in a wide variety of ways.

Dementia can cause changes in behaviour, confusion and disorientation, delusions and hallucinations, difficulty communicating as well as problems with balance.

All of this can be extremely frightening and scary for those suffering and is horrible to see for loved ones.

Despite being the leading cause of death in the UK investment in dementia research remains low in comparison to other major health conditions.

Please help us to raise money to find treatments, preventions and hopefully one day a cure for this heartbreaking disease that tears families apart.

Anything you can donate is appreciated whether it is £20, £10, £5 or even  £1. Every little helps and we appreciate it all!

Thank you for all your support and donations!
