Josh Bernas's Recovery Fund

With one week left of his sophomore year of college Joshua Bernas’ world was compiled of things like final exams, saying goodbye to classmates and teammates, and getting ready to move back home for the summer. That all took a turn on the night of May 13, 2018 when Josh was blindsided with one of, if not the, toughest situation he has ever encountered. While walking home Josh and three other of his friends were physically assaulted and attacked with weapons including baseball bats and a gun. Josh was left in very critical condition after being struck in the face and back of the head with a baseball bat leaving him unconscious. After being rushed to the hospital and treated 3 of the victims were thankfully able to be released. However, Josh’s injuries forced him to be admitted to the Trauma ICU with bleeding on his brain, a broken upper jaw, most of his top teeth knocked out, and bottom broken teeth-on top of cuts and bruises covering his whole body. As of now the injuries to his mouth are still too serious to perform any surgery, but the future holds very intense and expensive oral surgery on top of the already mountainous medical bills acquired. Josh has been and continues to be a wonderful son, loving brother, caring friend, and devoted teammate even in this unimaginable time. We, as a family, are coming together to ask for assistance in his time of need. We are hoping that those whose lives he has touched will pay his kindness forward with their own and help alleviate some of this financial burden that this violent attack has left Joshua with, so that he can focus on healing and a speedy recovery.
