On the morning of February 8th, my Father Jose Luis Torres was murdered in a home invasion robbery. My brother attempted to perform CPR on my father until police arrived, but it was too late.

My father was an immigrant who came to the United States to make a better life for himself. He was one of the hardest workers I’ve ever known, and ran a very successful business with my Mother at his side. A business that he was so proud to recently start sharing with my brother. My Dad was my role model, my friend, and someone I knew I could always turn to if things were hard.

He taught me a lot about everything, most importantly how to love myself. He loved himself and his family so much. He really was one of the happiest guys on the planet as you can see from the photos of him, always making people around him laugh. Mi viejo believed that the best education was travel, and made it a point to work hard to be able to take us on family trips and vacations. I will always cherish our memories as a family.

It’s still so unfathomable that he’s gone.

The reason why they targeted my family remains unclear. Luckily law enforcement has done an outstanding job and are working day and night to bring justice for my father. However, the real healing from this has only just begun. My mom and brother went through some very serious trauma that many people never really recover from.

My mother and brother didn’t want me to create this account because they have a hard time accepting or asking for help but I know that sometimes it takes the support of your community to heal. Thank you for your donations and condolences.

Love,
The Torres family

Once again, I’d like to thank all the friends and family that have supported us during this tragic time. I would like it to be clear that I created this account with the absolute best intentions for my family. I’m having to deactivate the page per my mother’s request. The funeral after party is invite only. Also my mother is requesting there be no alcohol for consumption or to be permitted on sight. Thank you so much.

I can’t begin to put into words how grateful my family and I are for all the donations and condolences we have received.
We hope you will join us on Saturday, February 24th at 10am for my father’s service. He will be buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Sebastopol CA.
Shortly after we’ll be throwing a huge party to celebrate the beautiful life he had. And a bbq of course, because that was his favorite. Dogs will be welcomed at the party; but everyone must be on a leash and be sure your dog plays well with others.
