In memory of our beloved JR, his family has asked that we raise money for the new and upcoming Cape Coral Humane Society. All funds raised through this page will benefit the Humane Society and youth sports. We hope to raise enough money for a kennel, brick, tree, and/or bench named in JR's honor.
John “JR” Robert Jones, Jr., 40, a lifelong Cape Coral, FL resident, passed away Monday, October 1, 2018 in Cape Coral. He was born August 29, 1978 in Fort Myers, FL.
JR was of the Pentecostal faith. He was a high-school basketball coach who stayed in touch with his players long after they left his teams. Working with and training his players was so important to him. JR was an accomplished athlete himself, that never stopped playing basketball. He was a friend to all and a light to many people. He was always there to lend a hand or support to others no matter what was going on. JR truly found purpose in helping others reach their goals in life, whatever that might be. He will be remembered as the best son, brother, uncle, teacher, coach, and friend for all the joy he spread. His smile, contagious laugh, and crazy sense of humor will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his loving parents, John and Darlene Jones, Sr. of Cape Coral; brother, Greg Callen (Sara) of Cape Coral; niece, Grace, and nephew, Jackson; a host of friends; as well as Chaz, his Pitbull.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 7, 2018 in the Gymnasium at Mariner High School, 701 Chiquita Blvd. North, Cape Coral, FL 33993 with Rev. John Allison of Living Word Ministries officiating.
Memorial Contributions in memory of John “JR” Robert Jones, Jr. are suggested to The Gulf Coast Humane Society, 2010 Arcadia St., Ft. Myers, FL 33916 or to a Youth Sports Program of your choice. Funds raised here will go toward a memorial bench or kennel in his honor, as among his greatest loves were youth sports/coaching and animals.
