Johnny's Veterinary Bills
Donation protected
Johnny, my beloved, Fox Squirrel passed away on March 26, 2017. Johnny and I fought hard together for his life since July 9, 2016. Anyone who knows me is well aware that my Johnny meant everything to me and there is nothing I wouldn't have done for him. He was like my little son, my baby. Johnny was extremely beautiful physically with handsome markings and soft fur. Spiritually, Johnny radiated an essence of pure love, peace, and a total connection to the universal source.
In sum, through those arduous, stressful months, many veterinarians were seen—a total of 7 to be exact (1 even in Florida!). Johnny was misdiagnosed with multiple issues: Abdominal mass, bowel obstruction, MBD, adrenal disease, sepsis, and possible muscle neuropathies such as multiple sclerosis. His teeth grew into the roof of his mouth which was completely overlooked by all Vets even after having his teeth trimmed! The only definitive problem that was diagnosed correctly was a severe kidney infection in December, 2016 and was treated with antibiotics. He recovered from the kidney infection, but then he started to have neurological issues –that not one vet could explain or determine its origin or prognosis. Johnny continued to decline, and finally he passed suddenly after he had a brief rally at the end of March (I believe he may have died from Neural Larvae Migrans—fatal). Everything I had done was in vain.
I exhausted all credit available (over $12,000) to pay for Johnny’s veterinary office visits, X-Rays, IV fluids, diagnostic testing, and medications. 38 Veterinary visits! When Johnny was ill there was no time to start any fundraising campaign --- Johnny was in such a fragile state that I just had to pay the vet bills with my credit card, give him the critical care needed, and work towards his recovery. Veterinary services are very expensive here in Dallas—nationwide actually— and many vets will not treat squirrels. Those that do, many times took advantage of the situation and charged me exorbitant prices—knowing that I had few options available. I had 7 vets give me false hopes of a recovery; I paid them blindly thinking they were helping Johnny recover. When you're in the crisis, it's easy to hand over your credit card and say, 'Save my animal!' Unfortunately, not one vet was competent enough to give a proper diagnosis and/or counsel in order to make a logical decision: either to keep fighting if he could be cured or euthanasia if terminal.
I have never asked anyone for help in my entire life, but I'm at the end of my rope here, and I have to rely on disability as my only income. Before Johnny became ill, I was going to use the credit on my cards for critical home repairs i.e., major bathroom and foundation work. Now, with my heart broken from this long ordeal and final loss of Johnny, I am reaching out with this attempt to recover some of this debt and any support would be extremely appreciated.
My campaign has gotten few donations thus far and I believe it may be because Johnny has already passed. Please don't penalize me for not being able to fundraise while Johnny was alive. His care was the priority and I would not have been able to determine a goal or explain exactly what the funds were needed for as no one could figure out a diagnosis. Plus I never dreamed his healthcare would be unresolved for so long. I had hope right up to the moment he passed. I know we all have many bills to pay and Johnny's Vet Bills are catastrophic for me. Please, I've donated money to people and charities many times over recent years. Hundreds of dollars. Money I really couldn't spare either but the truth is we can all spare something (generally) to help someone who is in dire need. Please consider a donation, any amount will be appreciated. Losing Johnny has been the most devastating loss I've experienced. I lost my Soulmate.
