In the early morning hours of Christmas Eve, John Nelson, one of our nearest and dearest was attacked, unprovoked, and has been in the ICU, in an induced coma ever since. Nelson is in a critical condition, fighting for his life.
Nelson and his friend were ending the night in a bar when a fight broke out by a gang of guys looking for trouble. John was not involved, just a bystander. When he saw a female friend from Universal Studios get punched in the face, he and his friend moved in to protect her as they could see there were more punches coming at her. Not to fight, just to make sure she was safe and okay, like the gentlemen they are.
One of the assailants came from behind and sucker punched Nelson, and he lost consciousness before he fell and hit his head on the concrete kerb. He suffered a traumatic head injury, with excessive swelling of the brain.
Nelson’s parents, Tim and Linda, got on the first flight they could and are currently in Singapore by his side. He has the support of his co-workers/Singapore family who are at the hospital daily with him. John has touched the lives of many of us through ski clubs, ski shows, stunt shows, his family, his faith, and by being the incredible guy he is. People all over the world have been reaching out, asking what they can do.
There is something we can all do. He really needs our help right now and the best way we can all help is to donate, any amount, nothing is too small. He needs his parents to be here by his side, which is imperative. There have been some setbacks medically and Tim and Linda will need to be in Singapore for at least a couple of months, if not longer. They’ve left their jobs and their lives to rush to his side. The doctor said it is crucial for them to be here with him.
He has insurance, but no insurance policy is good enough to cover the entire cost of such a devastating circumstance. We ask that you pitch in whatever you can to help John. This is going to be a very long road for Nelson and his family, and if we can help by taking away any financial stress they can just concentrate on helping him to get through this crisis.

This Go Fund Me account was set up by Melissa Broughton on behalf of the Nelson family. I have know John since 2008 and have been living and working with John in Singapore since 2011. All funds will go straight to John's sister Val and her husband Erik's accounts, on behalf of their parents. The funds will be used on the costs associated with this tragic event.
