Im Rhinesca DeSimone. I started this  Go Fund me for my friend Johanna Jerez who passed away on August 10, 2017.

Your donation will help Johanna's kids get thru their first year of school. This money will be used for School Uniforms, School Supplies, and many other things thru out the year.

I will be withdrawing the money from this donation with Domingo Jerez persmission which was already granted. I will forward the remaining funds to Domingo Jerez. Johannas husband.

Cancer.

It’s a short, scary word that everyone has a story about. They know someone who lived through it, died from it, or is battling it now. Johanna is a mom to two beautiful children: Kayla who is 11 and about to start middle school. She’s a silly basketball star who makes everything more fun and Marcus is 7 and about to start second grade and keeps his mom laughing and on her toes.

Two years ago, Johanna was diagnosed with Cervical Cancer. She beat it, July 2016. In October 2016, she was, diagnosed again. This time, surgery was not an option so they did six rounds of chemo. That darn cancer won’t go away, but Johanna is not backing down.

Right now, Johanna is fighting to stay on top of her diagnosis. This means she has to work fewer hours and spend more time at the hospital. Though she has a very understanding job, hospital bills are adding up. Johanna has always invested in the ones she loves.

She offers anyone in need advice, a listening ear, hugs and so much more. Getting rid of this cancer and investing in her health is a worthwhile cause. If you are able, we ask that you consider sharing a little of your change to relieve some of the financial burden weighing down on her.

If you aren’t able to support her with a contribution, she would be the first to tell you that she would appreciate any prayers, positive vibes, and love sent in her direction. Thank you for your love and support.

Dear friends,

If you are here, then you are undoubtedly someone that has been personally blessed from knowing this incredible family. Words alone cannot describe the love that we feel for Johanna and her family.

In lieu of flowers, all donations will go directly to the kids.

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank each and every one of you for your kind words & prayers.

God Bless You all.

@Johana “lost her battle with cancer.” I say that’s nonsense. I know Joey. I’ve watched her for 2 years—always very competitive, laughing with her friends, hanging out with her family. I know what she’s made of Cancer never stood a chance against her.
I know it wore down her body. I know it exhausted her strength. And I know it took her life. But cancer couldn’t dim her smile. And what a smile it was! Everything good, everything wholesome, everything pure was found in her smile. But there was more—a hint of mischief, a sense of self-confidence, an unmistakable kindness. It was the kind of smile that drew people to her.
That smile was there the first time I saw & met her at a New Jersey Fit club back in 2014. And it was still there the last time I saw her in Punta Cana. The ravages of cancer, chemo, and radiation could not wipe it from her face.
Johanna Garcia Jerez was doubly blessed with beauty—inside and out. Cancer could do nothing to diminish either. When chemo robbed her of her hair, she sported some of the coolest headwear you’ve ever seen—looking good all the time. Even more striking than her physical features, though, was her inner beauty. It was a beauty that shined through her eyes and smiles every day of her life. Cancer tried to take it from her but failed miserably.
To know her was to love her and to root for her. We should all be so lucky to have as many friends as Jo did. She touched more people in her time on earth than most of us could in 100 years. From her doctors and nurses to her clients, her team and to her friends, no one entered Jo's orbit without being inspired by her. Cancer was utterly helpless to interfere.
Cancer was unable to break her spirit. Her zest for life and the competitive fire burned brightly to the end. Her confidence and adventurousness were undimmed. She took everything cancer could throw at her and kept going. She endured the pain that would have hobbled the toughest adult. She found energy in the face of draining treatments. She maintained a positive outlook in the bleakest of situations. Where was cancer’s victory in that?
Cancer ripped a hole in the lives of everyone who loved her. Cancer left us devastated and heartsick. Cancer robbed the world of someone who would have done great things—someone who would have made a difference.
But cancer did not beat Johanna Garcia Jerez. 'It never stood a chance."

I wanted to post this for prayers and awareness. Jo has been in the hospital for like 3 weeks now. Originally started with going to the ER for a Bowel obstruction. That turned into an admission. This morning she had a minor surgery to insert a peg so that she can be a bit more comfortable. She never made it out of ICU. She has large amounts of fluid around her lungs. Her body is too weak for this much pain...Hopeful she makes it through the night with all our prayers.
So... once again I'm reaching out for your help, support, and prayers. This is so surreal...it's something no one can even stop from happening...it's unbelievably hard to watch this unfold. I snapped this picture just a few days ago.
