Joel's Cancer Fight * Our Support
Courage is having strength in the face of pain or grief! This is a clear picture of our friend and co-worker Joel Styring-Whitehill, who is battling stage 4 lung cancer.
We want to show our support to dear Joel and her two boys (pictured in the photo towards the beginning of her cancer journey) .
Joel has been undergoing aggressive treatment to battle this awful disease. Doctor's are unsure as to the cause of her lung cancer as she's never smoked or been around chemicals. They have tried several different treatments but the cancer has spread. We are standing strong with Joel.
Joel's current battle and treatment hasn't allowed her to work. As her circle of support, we want to make a difference in her life and that of her young two boys (one in elementary and one in high school). We want to rally around Joel and family to help her meet daily financial obligations and pay medical bills.
Joel is a fighter and is battling with great strength. Let's stand with her in this fight to do what we can to help her in this time of need and difficulty! Joel, you remain in our thoughts, prayers and close to our hearts!
A mother who loves and protects their children is a beautiful gift. Joel was such an incredible example of an amazing mom. She served in a role of mother and father and loved her boys fiercely. She would light up when she talked about her boys. The love that she instilled in her boys will live on.
I ask that you please lift Joel's boys, mother, and family up in thought and prayer today. Today there will be a loss in the hearts of this family but also gratefulness for the legacy of amazing love that Joel has left her boys.
A reminder today; that 'each day is a gift, to tell that special someone you love them, mend a broken bridge, and to be grateful for the love we have in our lives.
Joel, you are missed. You are loved. You have left a beautiful legacy of love and that is priceless.
Oh how she will be missed by her family, friends and co-workers. She was an amazing soul full of strength, spunk and love. What a beautiful gal inside and out. and that precious smile!
Will you join me in lifting the family and friends in prayers and thoughts as they mourn the loss of Joel's life but also celebrate the beautiful person she was.
Life is precious and such a gift. Joel's life; a gift to those around her. Even talking to neighbors this past week . . . they speak so sweetly of Joel.
Thank you for the beautiful community you are! Thank you for your continuous and precious generosity, love, care, prayers and support.
Please see Jim (Joel's brother) . . . his update below.
com·mu·ni·ty can be defined as a group of people having common interests. It can also be defined as sharing, participation, and fellowship.
Community brings unity. Community gives. It fights for those who can't. Community walks with those who are journeying through a deep valley. It stands up for causes and loved ones so dear to the heart, it turns love into action. Community is remarkable and amazing! Community combines personalities, gifts, talents, ideas and resources which have a great impact. While one person can't do it all, a community can come together to do incredible things never thought possible. It motivates and elevates. It offers a softer landing for those in need. Community reaches across all kinds of lines and boundaries and says, "I'm going to make a difference.'
Whether or not you realize it, you are a beautiful community that have come together with a common interest; our loved one Joel Styring Whitehill and her family. You may know her well. You may know her as an acquaintance. You may know her special boys or another family member. You may not know her at all.
But you are a community that is making a difference for Joel and her boys. Your generosity, your gifts, your thoughts, prayers, love, care and concern have surrounded this family and 'made a difference!'
On behalf of the family, I cannot thank you enough. Over $12,000. This is love! This is powerful! This is impact!
Thank you for continuing to keep Joel and family in your prayers and thoughts. Thank you for continuing to share Joel's story. These last few days have been difficult ones. She needs your love and prayers so please keep them coming.
You as a community continue to be a driving and loving force! You have exceeded goals! You have believed and you have loved greatly! Thank you!
1. the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness."she expressed her gratitude to the committee for their support"
2. synonyms: gratefulness, thankfulness
I am grateful for each of you and the difference you're making for Joel and her boys. I'm grateful for each prayer and gift on Joel's part! I'm grateful for the opportunity to watch others rally around, support and love Joel during this most difficult time. You are doing amazing things!
None of us are promised tomorrow, so making each day count is so important. We truly may never know what kind of impact we can have on another by our daily interactions and actions. With that being said, thank you for making an amazing difference!
What are you grateful for today? I know for myself and for one family going through a very deep valley, we are grateful for YOU!
The goal of $2,000 is way off, it should have been $200,000. RIP Joel B. Whitehill (Styring). God Bless Michael and Shane.
