May 7, 2018 update:
Jobe is HOME!!!! Yes, you read it right; he is now home and receiving some of his treatments at home. He can walk but he can’t talk or eat. His jaw is wired shut for a few more weeks. His face is still healing but it’s healing well. He can only drink fluids smoothies and yogurt things like that. He has a long road ahead. He will be receiving physical therapy in long island and will need more surgeries in the near and far future. The family is extremely grateful to everyone that has helped by donating and sharing this page. As you all know Jobe’s birthday is May 19. The family is looking for places in Bay Ridge to host his birthday. They want everyone to come through and celebrate with them. They want to thank you all personally. I will update the details when we find a place. Thank you all so much! We will continue to update you all.
Update: May 3, 2018 Jobe is progressing! He is still in intensive care but will be moving to another unit very soon. (God willing) as I reported yesterday that the driver didn’t have insurance...well, his insurance lapses but he is still covered for 30 more days. So insurance will be involved and hopefully they can cover the bulk of this child’s medical expenses. He will need physical therapy, cosmetic surgery, and jaw surgery as he grows. However, out of pocket expenses, lost wages and multiple other expenses this family is facing now is a lot! This family has to pay their home bills NOW while taking a leave of absence off work. Jobe’s birthday is coming up! May 19th. He won’t be able to eat or celebrate. Marianne Curran Fezza (Find her on Facebook) has started a toy drive for Jobe. She’s been on top of this and is doing whatever needs to be done to make his birthday special. Reach out to her for info. Jobe can not eat. His jaw is wired shut. 10 year old Jobe Kan was playing outside his Bay Ridge home with his friends when tragedy occurred. Jobe dashed to cross and street and was struck by an SUV a few feet away from his home. While Jobe is still in critical he is expected to survive. The accidesnt left his jaw shattered and other parts of his face. He's had a couple of surgeries with more to come. This tragic accident will take a major financial toll on this family. They have been by his side around the clock at the Children’s Hospital. Please help this little boy and his family during this time. ANYTHING HELPS! He will need more surgeries, physical therapy, major dental work and counseling. He has a long recovery ahead. Jobe's 11th birthday is May 17 and unfortunately, he will spend his birthday in the hospital. If you can help with $1 or sharing this page you can truly make a difference.
