Jeremy's Bar Mitzvah Project

Hi, my name is Jeremy Jenkins and soon I will become a Jewish adult.  My Bar Mitzvah is right around the corner and this is where the person that is turning into a Jewish adult does something nice to enter them into the Jewish world/community.  For my Bar Mitzvah I will need to complete three Mitzvah Projects- Ahavah (volunteering at a temple sponsored event), G’Milut Chasadim (volunteering in a community program), Tzedakah (raising money to give or use for the less fortunate).

For the last several years, I have been making fleece blankets and giving them out to needy families.  Last year I did these blankets with the help of my class at Warner Upper Elementary School and we made 15 blankets.   For my Mitzvah Project, my goal is to make 150 fleece blankets and scarfs.  We have asked Warner Upper Elementary School to participate again this year, but this time we will have 13 classes that will participate in the helping cut and hand knotting the outside edged of all the 150 blankets and scarfs. After we make them, I will go to Detroit and drop them off to people that are less fortunate and can't buy them and will freeze this winter.   I bet you are asking, “How can I help?”  Well, Tzedakah (raising of money to give to the less fortunate) is the last part of my Mitzvah Project.  I am asking for monetary donations to help pay for the materials that we need make the blankets and scarfs.  I have realized how lucky I am to have shelter, food, and clothes (etc.).  I will be so thankful when I drop off the blankets and feel like I made it so they can get through this horrible winter.  I'm sure that after you donate, you will feel good too because your participation helps the same way that I am.
