Jimmy "Blair" Barber left us on 11/25/2016. Blair was an avid fisherman, he loved the outdoors, he loved going to the Point down at Cape Hatteras, NC. Blair was always on the go, working on his house, always the first person to be there for someone else. He never put his own needs ahead of others. He and his wife Nellie met on a blind date, and it really was love at first sight. They would have been married for 3 years on 12/31/2016.
My name is Brian; I’m a very dear friend of Nellie, the wife of the late Blair Barber. I’ve known Nellie for 25+ years, and have had the pleasure of knowing Blair for 3.5 years. Nellie & Blair lived a simple life. In fact they didn’t have life insurance thus leaving Nellie in a bind now. The cremation & funeral will cost close to $3000.00. So many of you have asked how you can help and at this point this is the best way you can help. Any amount your able to help with will be muchly appreciated (every little bit helps) please consider helping out. We thank each and every one of you for what you’re able to do.
To let you know just how sudden this all was, Blair was admitted to the hospital on 11/19/2016 with esophageal varicies (multiple bleeding veins). The doctors & nurses from Sentara both in Elizabeth City and Virginia Beach worked long and tirelessly to keep him with us.
