Sailor Attacked - Jim Van Cleve
$4,462 of $3,000 goal
Jim confirmed that when he's ready to discuss how to forward his funds he'll let me know. He just needs a little time.
He has no communications at the moment, but we will be helping him get around and get re-established so please bear with him and thanks once again to all who have supported him."
"Eric says the surgeon set the bones in the thumb with a plate and screws. In 10 days - 2 weeks (Jim will) require further surgery to rejoin the severed tendons. We're hoping to see him later today, as the police are supposed to be bringing him out to the boat to get his full statement, so they can throw the book at the 2 guys in custody ASAP. "
A big thank you to everyone for contributions and well wishes. Jim will read your comments today and no doubt he will be bowled over. This should boost his morale . Faith in humanity restored!!
Sorry to hear about your problem. When I was about 14 years old in shop class I was cutting some plastic on a bandsaw. A friend came by and tapped me on the shoulder. I accidentally almost sawed off my thumb. I didn't find out till I was in the hospital that my tendon had been cut. This was 1968. I was living in Colorado Springs and we had the only plastic surgeon west of the Mississippi. It took awhile before I could use it. But after about a year. It didn't hurt much. For 40 some years it hurts every once in awhile when it gets cold. Good luck my friend with getting better.
