Jewish Women in the Lineup

Donation protected
At Jewish music festivals, Orthodox Jewish women need to be in the lineup!

Junity Arts and Music Festival is happening June 3rd in Los Angeles, CA. Sababa Music Festival is the following weekend, June 7th-10th, in Honesburg, PA. Featuring Jewish artists celebrating our heritage and culture, these two festivals are breaking ground in including Orthodox Jewish women.

Why is this groundbreaking?

The Jewish laws of kol isha preclude men from listening to the singing voice of a woman. This obviously presents some challenges for Orthodox women singers. However, we have a vision that shifts the focus of kol isha. By creating the Shira Tent at Junity, and the Shabbos Candlelighting program for women at Sababa, we are creating the environment that we believe best celebrates the possibilities of kol isha to foster deep connections among women through our voice.

Junity is kicking off for the first time this year, and this is Sababa's the second year. Creating these women's spaces is like setting up another mini-festival within each festival!

We are raising money to finance the separate stage, separate lighting, and separate sound systems for these two events; plus the travel expenses for as many female performers as possible to showcase at Junity.

Please join us! We are joining the rising tide to get all women's voices heard everywhere.
