Jess passed away suddenly at the age of 22, from complications of Leukemia. This is a memorial scholarship in Jess Kelley’s name to honor her at Tennessee Tech University in Psychology. The money raised will create an endowment to help others complete what Jess could not, a degree in Psychology to counsel youth.
The scholarship will be based on GPA, area of study and Professor recommendation.
Jessica Anne Kelley graduated from Tennessee Tech in May 2018 with her degree in Psychology with a focus in children’s counseling. She was a member of the Psychology Honor Society Fraternity Psi Chi. She was about to begin her master's program in Counseling in Psychology when she passed away.
She was active at the University and in the Psychology department. Jess played the clarinet in the TTU Marching Band, treasurer and member of the TTU Swing Dance Club.
She born and raised in Oceanside, California, where she attended Vista High School and graduated with honors. She played the clarinet in the Vista Marching Band and won multiple state tournaments. She enjoyed live Theater, from acting in plays, set building, costuming, and lighting. She was head counselor at Premiere for Kids teaching children the art of theatre.
She moved to Sweetwater, Tennessee in 2016 and transferred to TTU to complete her degree. In her spare time she volunteered at an animal shelter, because of her love for all animals, dogs and especially llamas. She was employed at the Lost Sea in Sweetwater, where she enjoyed her public speaking as a tour guide in the cave.
