It's amazing how, in the blink of an eye, a person's life can be changed forever...
Jenny Latzko is a 33-year old single mother and musician who has built a reputation in the Greater Glens Falls, NY area for her kind and generous heart, active community support, love for the arts, and passion for her 8 year old daughter, Ava.
For years, Jenny has been involved with fundraising for many local organizations and has taken great care in helping those who are in need. She has created and sponsored several successful fundraisers for many different causes. From fire victims to local schools, Jenny has helped to raise tens of thousands of dollars for her community over the years.
This unwavering generosity has even spilled over to her daughter who, on her 6th birthday, in lieu of presents asked to start a yearly food drive to benefit local food pantries. To date, Ava's food drive has collected over 1,000 pounds of food for local food pantries and more than $500 in cash donations as well as hundreds of children's books, toys, and clothing items.
Unfortunately, one December evening the unthinkable happened and Jenny's life was changed forever. On the night of December 23rd, 2016 Jenny, always looking out for others, was driving home a friend who had a bit too much to drink that night when she, herself, was hit head on by a drunk driver. The driver had swerved into her lane and careened into the driver's side of her vehicle. The impact was so severe that it ripped the front wheel off the driver's vehicle, throwing it into Jenny's windshield. The impact had enough force to crush her left leg in the door causing her immediate and severe physical trauma.
Jenny sustained multiple lifelong injuries including 8 hernias in her spine, multiple brain injuries, vertigo, and a damaged sciatic nerve making every day tasks such as walking, bathing, and even getting Ava to school difficult.
Anyone who knows this woman, knows she's not one to be easily knocked down. Healing has now become her full time job. Since the accident Jenny has spent most of her time attending daily and monthly appointments with neurologists, physical therapists, chiropractors, message therapists, pain management specialists, neuro-psychologists, and a neuro-optometrist. Thanks to her dedicated team of doctors and specialists she has made several major breakthroughs but requires continued daily medical care to heal and resume her normal life. Unfortunately due to New York state law regarding auto accident insurance, Jenny has ran out of medical coverage and needs our help. Her recent lack of medical coverage has caused several major setbacks in her recovery. The lack of physical therapy and massage has caused her to, once again, lose the feeling in her left leg making it difficult to walk, bathe, dress herself, or take care of her daughter.
For years, Jenny has been involved with fundraising for many local organizations and has taken great care in helping those who are in need. Now, she is the one in need of our help. Jenny NEEDS continued medical care in order to continue her recovery. Her savings account has been depleted since the accident and she has been forced to sell most of her instruments and performance gear to stay afloat and remain stable for Ava. To make matters worse, she was informed by her doctors that due to the several brain injuries she sustained as well as the damage to her vision she will be unable to return to the marketing career she spent 13 years of her life in.
